A receiver comprises square-root raised cosine filter bank, each filter of the filter bank configured to filter a subband, and an adder configured to add up the output signals of one or more filters of the filter bank to obtain a sum signal, the sum of the subbands of the one or more filters being equal to the transmission bandwidth of the received signal. A transmitter comprises a transmission filter, the roll-off factor of the transmission filter being selected on the basis of the bandwidth of the signal to be transmitted.

    摘要: An interference suppression scheme is provided for a radio receiver. According to the provided interference suppression scheme, the bandwidth of a received pilot signal and a data signal is divided into a plurality of frequency sub-bands. The pilot signal and the data signal have been transmitted according to single carrier data transmission technology. Interference parameters are calculated for each frequency sub-band separately. Interference suppression may be carried out jointly or separately for each frequency sub-band. After the interference suppression, the frequency sub-bands are combined. A filter bank may be used for dividing the total frequency band into sub-bands.

In response to determining that the user equipment has the need to establish uplink synchronization with the base station, a determination is made if uplink resources are available on a non-contention-based channel for the user equipment. In response to determining that uplink resources are available on the non-contention-based channel for the user equipment, the uplink resources are dedicated on the non-contention-based channel to the user equipment and an indication of the dedicated uplink resources is communicated to the user equipment. Using at least the uplink resources, the user equipment is synchronized on the non-contention-based channel in order to receive information from the user equipment.
