Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer programs are disclosed for controlling memory frequency. One method comprises a first memory client generating a compressed data buffer and compression statistics related to the compressed data buffer. The compressed data buffer and the compression statistics are stored in a memory device. Based on the stored compression statistics, a frequency or voltage setting of the memory device is adjusted for enabling a second memory client to read the compressed data buffer.

Abstract: Various additional and alternative aspects are described herein. In some aspects, the present disclosure provides a method of communicating data between an electronic unit (EU) of a system-on-chip (SoC) and a dynamic random access memory (DRAM). The method includes encoding data at the EU. The method includes generating control data for decoding the encoded data at the EU. The method includes directing storage of the encoded data in the DRAM. The method includes directing storage of the control data in an on-chip memory separate from the DRAM, wherein the on-chip memory is on a same chip as the EU.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus improve static region detection in an imaging pipeline. An imaging pipeline may perform detection of static regions of an image at multiple stages of the pipeline. For example, as static regions may be eliminated from further processing by the imaging pipeline, static region detection performed at an early stage of the pipeline may provide for maximized power savings. As images early in the pipeline may contain artifacts inhibiting detection of some static regions, additional static region detection may be performed after further image processing. For example, static region detection may be performed for a second time after some filtering is applied to images in the pipeline. Regions previously characterized as dynamic may be characterized as static later in the pipeline due to a reduction of noise for example provided by the filters, and differences between the static region detection at different positions within the imaging pipeline.
