    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may monitor for one or more downlink reference signals periodically transmitted from a base station during a first time period. The UE may determine that the UE is to participate in a random access procedure with the base station during a random access occasion, while the UE is operating in a half-duplex communication mode. The UE may identify that a first downlink reference signal is scheduled during a second time period that includes at least one random access occasion that corresponds with a reference signal for which the UE is configured to monitor, where the second time period is a subset of the first time period. As such, the UE may refrain from monitoring for the downlink reference signal during the time period in favor or proceeding with the random access procedure.

According to certain aspects, a method of wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving, from a network entity, a configuration of a paging early indication (PEI) that indicates, for multiple paging occasions (POs) in multiple paging frames (PFs), whether paging physical downlink control channels (PDCCHs) are scheduled in the multiple POs, identifying a reference PF from one of the multiple PFs, and monitoring for the PEI in a location of a PEI occasion determined based on the reference PF and at least one timing offset.

In some cases, a user equipment (UE) may partition layers of a submatrix associated with a parity check decoding procedure into a first set of layers and a second set of layers. The UE may sort each set of layers into a respective set of layer orders (e.g., a first set of layer orders and a second set of layer orders) based on an associated set of correlation values. The UE may combine the first set of layer orders and the second set of layer orders to obtain a set of combined layer orders and may select a decoding schedule from a set of decoding schedules used for decoding each of the combined layer orders based on respective schedule lengths for the set of decoding schedules.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE), such as a UE with reduced capabilities, may switch from a first bandwidth part (BWP) to a second BWP to receive system information for a carrier that includes the first and second BWPs. The UE may switch to the second BWP to receive system information based on a trigger (e.g., control signaling or an expiration of a timer) and then switch back to the first BWP without additional signaling to continue operation. In some examples, the UE may receive additional signaling (e.g., data, control signaling, reference signals) in the second BWP. In some examples, a BWP switching duration may include additional time to process the system information received in the second BWP, for example if the system information includes instructions to switch to a third BWP (e.g., rather than returning to the first BWP).
