Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A first user equipment may receive, from a network entity, information indicating a resource allocation associated with a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) for a second user equipment and an indication to measure a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) associated with the PDSCH for the second user equipment. The second user equipment may be in spatial angular proximity to the first user equipment. The first user equipment may measure the DMRS associated with the second user equipment, and may transmit, to the network entity, a beam management report including measurements associated with the DMRS for the second user equipment. Based on the measurements associated with the DMRS for the second user equipment, the network entity may adjust a directional beam associated with the first user equipment.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration signal indicating that tone reservation is activated on a first set of resource elements of a downlink transmission for out of band transmission reduction, where a second set of resource elements of the downlink transmission is reserved for data transmission. The UE may then receive, from a network entity, the downlink transmission including the first set of resource elements and the second set of resource elements. After receiving the downlink transmission, the UE may decode the downlink transmission in accordance with the configuration signal.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Some wireless networks may maintain up-to-date location information for the UE by periodically determining the location the UE using a low power transponding mechanism while the UE is in an inactive state. The UE may monitor a first beam to receive one or more transponder search signals during one or more transponder occasions, and between paging attempts from one or more of the base stations of the network. The UE may receive the one or more transponder search signals, and may transmit a transponder response message to a base station including a UE identifier associated with the inactive state. The base station may receive the transponder response message, and may conduct various location measurements for the UE using the transponder response.
