Abstract: A water reservoir for use with a medical treatment apparatus includes a reservoir base including a cavity structured to hold a volume of water to humidify a supply of pressurized breathable air. The reservoir base includes a heat conductive portion, wherein the heat conductive portion is configured to thermally engage with a heating assembly of a water reservoir dock associated with the medical treatment apparatus to allow thermal transfer of heat from the heating assembly to the heat conductive portion. The water reservoir includes at least one protrusion that protrudes outwardly from a side of the reservoir base, wherein the at least one protrusion is configured to be fully inserted into at least one slot on a side of the water reservoir dock, and wherein the at least one protrusion only extends partially along the side of the reservoir base.

Abstract: An apparatus for treating a respiratory disorder in a patient, includes a respiratory pressure therapy device that generates a flow of air at positive pressure for treating the respiratory disorder. An air circuit transports the flow of air generated by the respiratory pressure therapy device to a patient interface. A nebuliser module is located at or adjacent to a proximal end of the air circuit to nebulise a liquid to form a nebula of the liquid. The nebula is admitted into the flow of air generated by the respiratory pressure therapy device. A vaporiser is located at the distal end of the air circuit to receive and vaporise the nebula to form a humidified flow of air.

Abstract: An apparatus for humidification of air to be delivered to a patient's airways may include a reservoir, and a humidifier chamber. The humidifier chamber may include a humidifier wick and a heating element for heating the humidifier chamber. The humidifier wick may comprise a fibrous sheet material. The humidifier chamber and wick may be vertically oriented in use such that a first end of the wick is above the second end of the wick. A deioniser may be provided to deionise the liquid prior to the humidifier wick. The apparatus may pasteurise liquid to be delivered to the humidification wick.

Abstract: Apparatus for treating a respiratory disorder in a patient, the apparatus comprising: a respiratory pressure therapy device configured to generate a flow of air for treating the respiratory disorder, said flow of air being at a positive pressure with respect to ambient pressure; an air circuit adapted to transport said flow of air generated by said respiratory pressure therapy device to a patient interface, said air circuit having a proximal end connectable to said respiratory pressure therapy device and a distal end connectable to said patient interface; a nebuliser module located at or adjacent to said proximal end of said air circuit, said nebuliser module adapted to nebulise a liquid to form a nebula of said liquid, and to admit said nebula into said flow of air generated by said respiratory pressure therapy device; and a vaporiser located at said distal end of said air circuit, said vaporiser adapted to receive said nebula and further adapted to vaporise said nebula to form a humidified flow of air. Also, a method for treating a respiratory disorder in a patient, the method comprising the steps of: generating a flow of air for treating the respiratory disorder in a respiratory pressure therapy device, said flow of air being at a positive pressure with respect to ambient pressure; nebulising a liquid retained in a water reservoir to form a nebula of said liquid, and admitting said nebula to said flow of air; transporting said flow of air and said nebula over an air circuit; receiving said flow of air and said nebula in a vaporiser module; vaporising said nebula to form a vapour of said liquid; mixing said air flow with said vapour in said vaporiser module to form a humidified flow of air; receiving said humidified flow of air in a patient interface; and delivering said humidified flow of air to said patient for treatment of said respiratory disorder.

Abstract: An apparatus for generating and providing a pressurized breathable gas to a patient's airways includes a respiratory pressure therapy (RPT) device having an engagement port pneumatically and electrically coupled to the RPT device, and an air delivery tube configured to engage the engagement port so as to pass a flow of breathable gas to a patient interface. The air delivery tube includes electric contacts associated with a heating and/or a sensing arrangement. The air delivery tube includes a locking collar rotatably movable between (1) an unlocked position to allow connection/disconnection of the air delivery tube to/from the engagement port, and (2) a locked position to releasably lock the air delivery tube to the engagement port. The air delivery tube is structured and arranged to, when the locking collar is rotated into the locked position, pneumatically connect to the engagement port and define an operational configuration of the apparatus.
