    摘要: Disclosed are devices and methods of an electronic device configured to adaptably process arbitrary conditions to provide a user options for initiating or activating a non-display electronic function of the device. A user is free to determine how to position or orient the device. To determine in real-time, arbitrary conditions of the device, the disclosed devices and methods of an electronic device include determining that the electronic device is at rest and then acquiring a reference in response to determining that the electronic device is at rest. In this way, the device may assume any position or orientation to acquire a reference. Subsequently, subtle movement of the electronic device relative to the acquired reference may be detected to initiate a non-display electronic function of the electronic device. The user therefore may make choices inconspicuously and privately as to which non-display electronic function to initiate.

    摘要: In a hierarchical profile, each node represents at least one feature of behavioral data collected about an entity profiled, with the topmost node selected as the “statistically most informative” feature of the data. A profile can cover numerous domains and be predictively very powerful in each domain. A number of observations can be “aggregated” together into a single datapoint. In use, the structure of the profile is compared against current information associated with the entity to produce a recommendation or prediction. If the profile represents at least some data aggregation, then new observations are folded into the profile based on statistical weights of the aggregations. Because of the way the profile is created and updated, its hierarchical structure maps the collected observations. Therefore, as new observations are incorporated, if the new observations change the profile's structure significantly, then it can be hypothesized that something “interesting” has happened to the entity.

    摘要: A method for etching (200) photolithographically produced quartz crystal blanks for singulation. First, a quartz wafer is plated on both sides with metal and subsequently coated on both sides with photoresist (202). Second, the photoresist is patterned and developed and the metal layers etched to define the periphery of a quartz blank with a narrow quartz channel exposed between the blank to be singulated and the parent quartz wafer (204). Third, the quartz channel is preferentially etched partially into the wafer along parallel atomic planes to provide a mechanically weak junction between the quartz wafer and the blank to be singulated, while the periphery around the remainder of the quartz blank is etched completely through the parent quartz wafer (206). Fourth, the photoresist layers are stripped from the quartz wafer (208). Finally, the quartz blank is cleaved substantially along the bottom of the quartz channel to singulate the crystal blank from the wafer (210).
