摘要: A General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) Accessed Extended Mobile Internet Protocol (EMIP) [G-EMIP] network is provided for wireless mobile device access to external packet data networks. Domains are defined to incorporate a subnet of standard GPRS and EMIP network entities accessed through a Domain Router. Packet access at the radio interface is provided using the base station portion of a GPRS network. Wireless link specific processing is relegated to this potion of the G-EMIP network. EMIP is utilized as a backbone network to provide mobility and service management and interconnection to external networks. A GPRS-IP Interworking entity (GII) interworks IP and GPRS protocols between GPRS and IP addressable network entities (i.e., translates messages of each protocol to corresponding messages of the other protocol). Mobility-related functionality is handled at the IP (network) layer. Mobile IP is used to support the macro-mobility and Handoff-Aware Wireless Access Internet Infrastructure (HAWAII) is used to support micro-mobility and paging. The Domain Router provides packet service management and interacts with a Home Location Register/Authentication Center, which provides GRPS registration, authentication and encryption.

摘要: A method determined a routing of data between two network elements of a telecommunications network, which are interconnected via a transmission path. The method includes identifying plurality of layers of a telecommunications model from which the transmission path is comprised, and developing a reachability table by identifying a connection between each transmission element in each layer to other transmission elements in the same or a different layer of the transmission path. For each connection defining a set of communications parameters which define a cost of communicating data via the connection and allocating a weighting value for communicating data via the connection, for all possible routes between the two network elements along the transmission path via each of the layers modeling the effect of the connection for routing the data in accordance with the set of communications parameters for the connection and determining a weighted result along each path, and combining the weighted results to determine a metric of performance for each of the possible routes. An optimum route can then be determined for routing data in accordance with for example a minimum cost metric.

摘要: A method of processing a model of a telecommunications system including a plurality of access nodes through which communications terminals can communicate data is described. The method includes dividing the communications terminals, the access nodes and the core network into different groups, for a first of the groups loading the computer program code representing the communications terminals, the access nodes or the core network of the first group into the computer memory and performing the representing with the processor within a first time period, determining an amount of the data communicated between the first group and one or more of the other groups during the first time period, and for a subsequent time period representing the first group by an amount of data corresponding to the amount of the data communicated between the first group and a second of the groups, whilst loading the computer program code into the computer memory and performing the representing of the second group within the subsequent time period. The results produced by the modeling can be used to configure the telecommunications system itself.

摘要: A method of processing a model of a telecommunications network, the telecommunications network. The method includes dividing the network elements of the telecommunications network into a plurality of different groups, for a first of the group of network elements being modelled, loading computer program code representing the group of network elements being modelled into the computer memory and executing the computer program to model the first group of network elements within a first time period. For a subsequent time period the first group of network elements is represented by the amount of network services consumed on the one or more interfaces with the second group of network elements determined within the first time period, while loading into the computer memory computer program code to model the second group of network elements. In this way, an improvement in modelling telecommunications networks is provided by dividing each of the component parts of the telecommunications network into groups, and handling these groups on a cyclic basic.

摘要: A method determined a routing of data between two network elements of a telecommunications network, which are interconnected via a transmission path. The method includes identifying plurality of layers of a telecommunications model from which the transmission path is comprised, and developing a reachability table by identifying a connection between each transmission element in each layer to other transmission elements in the same or a different layer of the transmission path. For each connection defining a set of communications parameters which define a cost of communicating data via the connection and allocating a weighting value for communicating data via the connection, for all possible routes between the two network elements along the transmission path via each of the layers modelling the effect of the connection for routing the data in accordance with the set of communications parameters for the connection and determining a weighted result along each path, and combining the weighted results to determine a metric of performance for each of the possible routes. An optimum route can then be determined for routing data in accordance with for example a minimum cost metric.

摘要: A method of processing a model of a telecommunications network, the telecommunications network. 摘要: A radio network coverage area provided by a mobile radio network is analyzed. The analysis is provided by receiving control messages from a first interface communicated between a base station of the mobile radio network and a radio network controller, the control messages being provided for controlling the communications of the data to or from the mobile terminals via the base station. The method includes identifying a mobile identity number associated with the mobile terminal from the control messages communicated via the first interface, identifying, using the mobile identity number, mobility control messages communicated via the first interface, the mobility control messages providing an indication of a relative distance of the mobile terminal from the base station, receiving data communicated via a second interface between the radio network controller and a core network part of the mobile radio network, identifying the data communicated from the mobile terminal, using the mobile identity number identified from the first interface, determining a relative measure of quality of the data received from the mobile terminal, and generating a performance map providing a relative distance of the mobile terminal from the base station and a quality of data communicated at the relative distance from the mobile terminal.

摘要: A pipeline communication system. The system uses the pipeline and the adjacent ground and includes branches with junctions. Governor modules and transformers/rectifiers form part of the network. Monitors periodically provide information to the network controller.
