    摘要: A method of terminating a malleable external shield (16) of a malleable coaxial cable (2) is carried out by inserting an end of the cable (2) into a tubular connector body (5) through one end (41) thereof and driving a shield gripping tubular metal member (8) surrounding the cable (2) into the connector body (5) from the one end (41) thereof so that the shield gripping member (8) tightly grips the cable shield (16), an external peripheral end flange (38) on the shield gripping member (8) being proximate to the one end (41) of the connector body (5). In order to afford strain relief for the electrical connection between the shield gripping member (8) and the cable shield (16), a solder ring (48) surrounding the cable (2) is held on the flange (38) and an induction heating ring (50) is employed to melt the solder ring (48) to provide a solder fillet (52) rigidly connecting the flange (38) to the cable shield (16).

    摘要: An electrical connector for an electrical cable with a plurality of conductors comprises a plurality of subassemblies that may be easily assembled and automatically aligned by plural captivation means provided on the subassemblies. Such a connector for a triaxial connector comprises a center contact subassembly to provide connection for the center conductor of the connector, an inner shell subassembly to provide connection for a first outer conductor of the cable, an outer shell subassembly to provide connection for a second outer conductor of the cable, and first and second captivation means for axially positioning the center contact subassembly, the inner shell subassembly and the outer shell subassembly with respect to one another during assembly of the connector to the cable. The connector further includes first and second ferrules for crimping the first and second outer conductors to the inner and outer shells, respectively, and ferrule positioning means on the second ferrule to hold the ferrule in axial position with respect to the outer shell during crimping.

The clip 5 is an annular disc 48 residing on a skirt portion 25 of the insulative body and has helical arms 49, 50, 51, and 52 circumferential to the disc 47 to establish conductive paths to the panel, and clip fingers retaining the capacitor elements 46 and 47 in pressure contact with the shell 2.

The connector family includes plug (65, 110, 300, 320) and jack (10, 100, 120, 130, 200) connectors of the threaded (100, 110, 130, 320) and quick disconnect (10, 65, 120, 200, 300) types, connectors which are adapted to be mounted to printed circuit boards (10, 65, 100, 110, 120, 130) and connectors which are adapted to terminate coaxial electrical cables (200, 300, 320). The plurality of connectors of the connector family are designed to share one or more components with other connectors in the family permitting a reduction in inventory requirements and a savings in over all manufacturing costs.

    摘要: A coaxial connector 10 includes a conector body (21) and a plurality of grounding pin contacts (25, 25) extending from the connector body (21) to be extended into and through a plurality of apertures (32, 32) in a printed circuit board (12) to electrically and mechanically connect the connector (10) to the board (12). The grounding pin contacts (25, 25) have a length greater than the thickness of the board (12) and include first compliant pin contact portions adapted to be positioned within the apertures (32, 32) to frictionally engage the sidewalls of the apertures (32, 32) to frictionally retain the connector (10) to the board (12) and to electrically connect the connector (10) to the board (12), and second compliant pin contact portions (51, 51) which extend out of the apertures (32, 32) beyond the opposite side of the board (12) and which, upon, passing through the apertures (32, 32) expand to a diameter greater than that of the apertures (32, 32) to mechanically lock the connector to the board. The grounding pin contacts (25, 25) are formed integral with grounding pin contact means which is mounted to the outer shell (21) of the connector (10) after the compliant portions (51, 51) of the grounding pin contacts (25, 25) are formed to simplify manufacturing procedures and permit use of different materials for the grounding pin contacts (25, 25) and the outer shell (21).
