    摘要: Apparatus and methods are disclosed for positioning an access terminal in a CDMA wireless communication network utilizing a highly detectable pilot (HDP) scheme. Here, transmissions by base stations are divided in the time dimension into a plurality of time slots, or pilot control groups (PCGs). A subset of these time slots, according to a duty cycle, are exclusively allocated to the transmission of the HDP signals, while conventional data, control, and pilot transmissions are forgone during these HDP time slots. Among the HDP time slots, in accordance with a re-use pattern, groups of the cells take turns transmitting the HDPs at full base station power. In this way, access terminals are better capable of receiving a greater set of pilot signals for utilization in trilateration of the access terminals.     摘要: A method and system for providing asymmetric modes of operation in multi-carrier wireless communication systems. A method may assign a long code mask (LCM) to an information channel associated with a plurality of forward link carriers to transmit data from an access network to an access terminal; and multiplex the information channel on a reverse link carrier. The information channel may include one of data source channel (DSC), data rate control (DRC) and acknowledgment (ACK) information, and the multiplexing may be code division multiplexing (CDM). The AN may instruct the AT on whether to multiplex the DSC information based on feedback from the AT. The method may further offset the ACK information on the reverse link to reduce the reverse link peak to average, CDM the information channel on an I-branch and on a Q-branch, and transmit the code division multiplexed information channel on the reverse link carrier.

Since different parts of a packet or frame are transmitted to the user by the different base stations in the active set, earlier decoding and therefore early packet termination is enabled.

Based upon receipt of the NAK, the AT can resend the data by sending a second set of slots of the first data packet containing redundant data. Based upon receipt of the ACK, the AT can send a first set of slots of another packet.
