    摘要: An in-wall component is installed in a partition by attaching the wall component to a bracket mounted to a hole in the partition. The component is slightly recessed from the front of the partition to create a slight recess between the front of the partition and the front of the component. A component leveler could then be attached to the bracket to cover the in-wall component, providing a mount that is substantially flush to the wall. The component leveler has several adjustment mechanisms that operate independently of one another to adjust an angular depth of the component leveler to ensure that the edges of the component leveler are perfectly flush with the front of the partition.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, mass spectrometry systems, and sample plates for use in such systems, implement techniques for calibrating an ion source that includes a sample control system including a sample holder and a laser source. A sample plate is mounted in the sample holder, and a relationship is determined between a coordinate system of the sample plate and a coordinate system of the sample control system. The relationship is used to align a target region of the sample plate with ion optics of a mass spectrometer for a mass spectrometric analysis. The relationship is determined at least in part by aligning one or more fiducials relative to a reference point of the sample control system. The fiducials define reference points of the sample plate coordinate system. The techniques can be used to facilitate processes involving partial or full automation.

    摘要: A method and apparatus are described for performing image analysis of a sample target area on a MALDI sample plate to select laser impingement locations for optimal mass spectra acquisition. The target area image is captured and analyzed to determine the incidence distribution of picture element values (representative of luminance and/or chrominance information). A dynamic threshold value may be determined by constructing a virtual histogram and then identifying a value at which a local minimum occurs between modes of a bimodal distribution. The threshold value is applied to the picture elements to locate regions within the target area that possess desired visual characteristics, such as a high luminance indicative of a crystalline structure. Mass spectra acquisition may be optimized by directing the laser beam to impinge at only those regions that possess the desired visual characteristic. The mass spectrometer performance may be further improved by coupling the image analysis process to an auto-spectrum filtering technique, whereby the laser beam is selectively held at or moved from a region of the sample spot based on whether the resultant mass spectrum meets predetermined performance criteria.
