摘要： A miniaturized high efficiency closed cycle cryogenic cooling system employs an integral electrically-actuated diaphragm compressor and expander arranged to enable the work of expansion of a portion of compressed gas to be applied to the compressor via a fluid coupling to reduce the external input power requirements of the compressor. Another portion of compressed gas is expanded through an expansion valve and liquefied at the cryogenic temperature. The expanded gas from the expander and the expansion valve is returned to the compressor through a heat exchanger to pre cool the portions of compressed gas prior to expansion.

摘要： A shipping pallet that has a load bearing deck with a plurality of domes that provide high strength, stiffness, and rigidity to the deck, and an undercarriage for supporting the deck and for receiving a forklift, palletjack, hand truck, or other automated machinery. Each dome is defined by an apex located proximate to the upper surface of the deck and a plurality of legs extending from the apex and ending at the lower surface of the deck. The domes are arranged adjacent to each other and define an array such that a load applied to the upper surface of the deck, substantially on the apex of the domes, will cause the applied forces from the load to be transmitted substantially laterally along the legs of the arches thereby producing intersecting compressive forces between adjacent domes that enable the load bearing deck to have high strength, stiffness, and rigidity.

The pallet for shipping materials includes a deck that has a plurality of arch elements situated adjacent to each other and wherein each of the arch elements is situated such that a load applied to the deck will transmit forces through each of the arch elements and towards adjacent arch elements, such that forces from adjacent arch elements intersect each other at an intersection point. One advantage of this structural design is that the intersecting forces create a countervailing compressive stress to fully or partially offset the forces from the applied load by laterally redirecting the stress inducing forces.

摘要： A locating system employs a single-point device employing unique scanning patterns for generating peak signal data which can be used to calculate the position of a signal source within a scanned region. One preferred embodiment utilizes a satellite in high earth geosynchronous orbit and a simultaneous yaw and roll pattern to scan a substantial portion of the earth's surface. The point source being located may be virtually any form of transmitter of radiant energy such as infrared, electromagnetic, light or acoustical energy. The scanning device may also be positioned in a low earth orbit satellite, an aircraft, a missile or a helicopter. The single-point device re-radiates the signal source transmission to a computer command center which correlates single-point device scanning position data with received transmissions to accurately compute the location of the signal source. Beacons placed at precisely known locations may be used to interpret scan data. The computer triangulates peak signals of multiple roll orbits generated during each yaw orbit of the single-point device to determine the precise location of the source. The computer may also search a data base to identify the signal source and provide related information previously stored in the data base. The invention is particularly advantageous for locating stolen vehicles and for finding kidnapped persons. The system may also be used for determining altitude of a signal source that may, for example, be located on an aircraft in flight.

摘要： In a system for inflating airslides and the like, the pressure of the primary gas supplied to an ejector is controlled so as to maintain a constant mass flow rate into the airslide over its inflation cycle. A controller for controlling the primary gas pressure may be integrated into the ejector. A novel ejector employs flow shaping of an expanding primary gas stream within a draft tube to create a flow potential that produces entrainment of a secondary fluid. The draft tube may comprise telescoping sections to provide an ejector having a compact structure but which is capable of affording a substantial mixing length for the primary gas and secondary fluid when operated. The draft tube may be biased into engagement with flapper valves that close the secondary fluid openings in the ejector to afford positive closure of the openings. An argon and carbon dioxide primary gas mixture enables entrainment of a given quantity of secondary fluid within a smaller quantity of primary gas.
