摘要: Method and apparatus for determining the focal axis (26) of an asymmetrical antenna (14) such as an offset paraboloid reflector whose physical rim (15) is not coincident with the boundary of the electrical aperture but whose focal point is known. A transmitting feed horn array (34) consisting of at least two feed horn elements (36, 38) is positioned asymmetrically on either side of an estimated focal axis (40) which is generally inclined with respect to the boresight axis (12) of the antenna. The feed horn array (34) is aligned with the estimated focal axis (40) so that the phase centers (CP.sub.1, CP.sub.2) of the two feed horn elements (36, 38) are located on a common line (42) running through the focal point (F) orthogonally with respect to the estimated focal axis. RF circuit means (44) are coupled to the feed horn elements for generating RF electric field components which are directed to the offset antenna (14) whereupon sum and difference radiation far field patterns (.SIGMA., .DELTA.) are generated and transmitted in a manner analogous to systems of the monopulse angle tracking type. The far field radiation patterns (.SIGMA., .DELTA.) are sensed by a far field detector (43) and the transmitting array (34) is rotated in discrete angular (.beta.) incremental steps in at least one plane about an axis through the focal point whereupon the amplitude of the minimum value of the difference radiation pattern (.DELTA.) as a function of angular rotation (.beta.) is detected and measured with a determination being made of the angular orientation of the array where extreme magnitude of the minimum difference pattern signal strength occurs, which location is indicative of the focal axis (26) being determined. Alternatively, the relative phases (.psi..sub.93, .psi..sub.66) of the sum and difference radiation patterns (.SIGMA., .DELTA.) are detected and measured as a function of angular rotation (.beta.) and their difference value (.vertline..psi..sub.93 -.psi..sub.66 .vertline.) determined. The maximum difference value provides an indication of the location of the focal axis (26) being determined.

摘要: A method and apparatus for merging the processes of hearth baking and conveyor baking to offer the benefits of the two processes while eliminating many of the shortcomings. In one aspect, the present invention is a horizontal food-grade product conveyor to transport and support food substances within or through a cooking chamber in a continuous motion. The product conveyor comprises a frame, a support structure, a drive mechanism, and rotating segments of ceramic, brick, firebrick, stone, baked clay, transite, quarry tile, or other non-metallic material which form an endless baking hearth. Each hearth segment interacts with the next adjacent hearth segment to facilitate turning around a radius while forming and maintaining a continuous, flat product support surface and preheated baking hearth. The continuous flat hearth formed by the segments allows transportation and baking of the food substances in one direction while permitting temperature recovery of the segments during the return travel underneath the formed baking hearth.

摘要: A system for cutting blocks of cheese or other food product into chunks includes conveyors for moving the blocks along an automated, continuous, in-line processing path. A block cutter cuts the blocks longitudinally and or vertically to provide one or more stacks of slabs which are destacked by a vacuum transfer apparatus. A transverse cutter cuts the individual slabs to create chunks of cheese or other food product. The conveyors include a stack conveyor located in the processing path for conveying successive stacks of slabs from the block cutter to the product destacking apparatus in succession, and a slab conveyor located in the processing path for conveying successive slabs from the product destacking apparatus to the transverse cutter. A trim cutting module includes a rotating mechanism that rotates a block during the trim operation, allowing trim to drop to a trim disposal conveyance.

摘要: An antenna system for single or plural beams providing continuously variable beamwidth selectively in one or both of two orthogonal senses, i.e., azimuth and elevation, for either communications or angle-tracking. The system includes two parabolic cylindrical reflectors, which are respectively a main reflector and a sub-reflector; the reflectors are positioned with the focal axes thereof orthogonally. A point or multibeam (e.g., monopulse) feed is mounted adjacent the main reflector on the focal axis of the sub-reflector in the Airy disc of the system. Beamwidth is controlled using telescoping sections on the main and sub-reflectors to control the size of the surface areas thereof. Simultaneous operation of the telescoping sections of the reflector and sub-reflector provides bidirectional zooming of the beam without distortion while individual operation of the sections of the reflectors permits unidirectional zooming. Bidirectional zooming of beams from the multibeam feed requires rotating the position of the multibeam feed as the Airy disc changes during adjustment of the telescoping sections.

摘要: In a switchable beamwidth monopulse method and system, an antenna comprising a curved reflector and a first set of monopulse feeds positioned in the effective region of the Airy disc of the antenna includes a second set of monopulse feeds. The second set of monopulse feeds is positioned outside the Airy disc in the region of first bright Airy ring. In narrow beamwidth monopulse operation, monopulse sum and difference channel patterns are obtained from the first set of feeds within the Airy disc. In wide beamwidth monopulse operation, the difference channel pattern is obtained from the second set of feeds in the Airy ring; the sum channel pattern is obtained by attenuation and phase shifting the sum channel signal obtained from the first set of feeds, and adding the resultant to the sum channel signal obtained from the second set of feeds. In a simplified form of the invention, the difference channel patterns for both narrow and wide beamwidth mode operation are obtained from the second set of feeds, while the sum channel patterns are obtained as described above.
