Such common interfaces promote more efficient and effective use and management of messaging resources because they among other things eliminate the requirement to be conversant in different interfaces, rules and protocols for the different platforms on which messages may be accessed and managed.

The integrated mail gateway is programmed to create an e-mail message comprising the voice message. The integrated mail gateway is also programmed to use the addressing information to address the e-mail message, and to send the addressed e-mail message to the recipient.

    摘要： An analog-to-digital voice storage cellular telephone for recording voice messages while the user is away from the cellular telephone unit. In a preferred embodiment, the analog-to-digital voice storage cellular telephone comprises call answering circuitry which is activated after a predetermined number of rings. Detection circuitry waits to detect a SAT signal during a preset period of time. Once the SAT signal is detected a prerecorded outgoing message is transmitted to the caller. The voice storage cellular telephone records incoming voice messages. which are retrieved and replayed by users at their convenience. If the SAT signal is not detected, call terminating circuitry immediately terminates call. In accordance with one aspect, voice messages may be recorded at the central cellular station in real time, subsequently transmitted to the voice storage cellular telephone at a high speed and reproduced at normal speed to reduce air transmission time and cost.

    摘要： An analog communication system includes a transmitter and at least one remote receiver for receiving an incoming signal carrying an analog component from a suitable transmitter. The transmitter and receiver are provided with circuitry for transmitting, receiving and recording and for playback of the analog componant of the transmitted signal at different rates. The system is adapted to transmit along messages at a high rate to conserve transmission time and to record and playback the message at a slower audible rate. The system circuitry includes a decoder which may be programmed to recognize an address code specific to a particular receiver or group of receivers or may be activated simply by the incoming signal without an address code, to emit the enable signal. The decoder includes rate memory for storing record and playback rates in memory sectors corresponding to the memory sector of RAM in which the message is stored. The system further includes circuitry for converting the analog conponent of the signal to digital format to conserve memory and for reconverting a digital signal to analog format for playback in analog format.
