摘要: Eyewear including an optical functional member, control electronics, and a sealed electrical connective element connecting the electronics to the optical functional member. The connective element can directly connect the electronics to the optical functional member, or can connect through an intermediate contact, e.g., a plug-and-receptacle. The connective element can be routed from the electronics, around a rimlock of the eyewear to the optical functional member. The connective element can be a conductive compressible member, such as conductive rubber. In some embodiments, the connective element can be a multiconductor cable.

摘要: A sensor (100) for detecting input force and/or torque with six degrees of freedom for use as a computer input device is provided. The sensor has a technically simple detection mechanism which obviates the need for complex and fragile securing components. A user-manipulable core (106) is enclosed in a casing (109). Electrodes (114) in the casing (109) are separated from the core (106) by a layer of elastically deformable conductive polymer (108). Electric current flows between the core (106) and the electrodes (114). The polymer (108) has variable resistivity depending on the stress it experiences. Manipulation of the core (106) causes deformation of the polymer (108); the type of deformation, and hence the type of force/torque applied to core (106), is determinable from the currents flowing through the electrodes (114).

摘要: A vehicle email notification system and method that accesses data from the vehicle as well as from one or more other sources and combines the information into an email that is then sent to the owner or other authorized subscriber. The email notifications are triggered by different events, some of which are independent of the vehicle (e.g., a monthly trigger), and others of which occur at the vehicle, such as a mileage or low oil life trigger. The notification system builds and sends to the subscriber an email message that contains the dynamic vehicle information and identifies any detected vehicle condition for which action is needed.

摘要: A system for supporting patient care equipment alongside a patient support is provided. In one embodiment, the system includes a plurality of arms supported by a support structure. The arms may be pivoted to either side of the patient support. The arms may be stored in a console. At least one of the arms may carry service conduits that provide medical air, oxygen, vacuum, nitrogen, nitrous oxide, or electricity.

摘要: An apparatus includes a rail configured to be coupled to a support structure such as hospital bed, a carriage coupled to the rail for movement along the rail and a lock coupled to the carriage for selectively locking the carriage at one of a plurality of locations along the rail. The carriage is configured to support a patient care equipment rack such as an IV pole. The rail has a plurality of locking portions spaced therealong. The lock is movable between a locking position where a portion of the lock engages a selected one of the locking portions to block the carriage from moving along the rail and an unlocking position where the portion of the lock disengages from the selected one of the locking portions to allow the carriage to move along the rail.
