摘要: A code division multiple access system method and apparatus provides for allocation of increased bandwidth to a requesting mobile station. An access controller receives a data burst request (from either a requesting mobile station or from an external network already in connection with the mobile station) requesting a first data rate in excess of the basic data rate B allocated to a mobile station of a first cell. The access controller determines an increased data rate which is to be granted to said mobile station without causing excessive interference at said first cell and at least one adjacent cell and transmits a data burst assignment to a base station of said first cell indicating the increased data rate which has been granted to said mobile station. In another feature, the access controller processes a data burst request received from a mobile station involved in a soft handoff between multiple base stations and negotiates with those base stations for an increased data rate which may be granted to the requesting mobile station. One feature enables additional interactions to further refine the allocation process. A variety of system architectures are also described.

摘要: The method provides for a first network controller, operating according to a first radio technology, to form and send a relay message to a second network controller, operating according to a different, second radio technology. The relay message includes an embedded message for the second network controller. The embedded message may be a transition message requesting transition of a packet switched call for a mobile station handled by the first network controller to a call for the mobile station handled by the second network controller. The method further provides selection of another wireless element for service at a wireless unit, using a current wireless element. A wireless unit receives a message identifying at least one other wireless element, available to the wireless unit and to which a wireless element currently in communication with the wireless unit is also in communication with and the wireless unit selects another wireless element for possible future service based on the message.

摘要: A method, apparatus, system, and computer software for compressing and decompressing a message for transmission. The method of compressing a text message for transmission may include parsing text strings and encoding numerical values with a binary representation and analyzing values of the text strings and populating a session specific codebook with partial strings from the values. The method of compressing a message for transmission may also include parsing the message with a template and generating at least one substring to be transmitted; parsing the at least one substring with entries in a session specific codebook and generating a first part of the compressed message; populating the session specific codebook with entries for unknown field values; parsing any unmatched substrings with entries from a first static dictionary and generating a second part of the compressed message; parsing any still unmatched substrings with entries from a second static dictionary and generating a third part of the compressed message; compressing a remainder of the substrings with a compression algorithm; and combining the first part, the second part, and the third part of the compressed message to obtain a compressed message for transmission.

摘要: Bus arrangements are disclosed for interconnecting processors and main memory modules of a shared memory multiprocessor system. A single address bus interconnects all processors and memory modules, but odd and even memory modules communicate data to and from the processors via an odd and an even data bus. Each reading of memory occupies four bus cycles on one of the data buses. On the address bus, two of each of the four cycles are available for addressing odd and even memory modules, and the other two are available for sending invalidation addresses to the caches of the processors. The single address bus is used for transmitting a relatively narrow (32-bit) address word throughout the system, one address on each bus cycle, while the data buses are time shared to transmit a wide data word (256-bit) in four bus cycles, and each data bus is only connected to half of the main memory modules. Such an arrangement makes efficient use of limited bus resources to transmit information when and where it is needed.

摘要: Methods and systems for managing system resources in a data transmission system are disclosed herein. An adaptive packet inactivity timer can be associated with the data transmission system, wherein the adaptive packet inactivity timer dynamically changes a behavior thereof based on one or more customer attributes, such as, for example, of quality of service (QoS) level. The customer attribute is linked to a plurality of timer parameters that define the behavior of the adaptive packet inactivity timer for management of the data transmission system. Additionally, the customer attributes can be assigned to a customer based on a contract level associated with the customer, or based on an application type intended for use with the customer contract.

摘要: In real-time critical wireless data applications, such as Push-to-talk over Cellular (PoC) or Push-To-Talk (PTT) and Voice-over-IP (VoIP), a user of a PTT mobile station pushes a button to indicate his desire to communicate with a pre-defined group (e.g., a buddy list) of people. This action triggers the PTT mobile station to re-activate a dormant data call connection and request the floor. When one or more of the mobile stations identified in the buddy list responds, a PTT server sends a Grant message to the PTT caller and he/she can start to talk. In one embodiment, the Grant message is sent to the PTT caller before the dormant call is completely reactivated to reduce PTT call setup latency.
