摘要: An specimen cup holder is provided which permits a person to position a conventional specimen gathering device, such as a specimen cup, for receipt of a specimen without contact with the specimen. The specimen cup holder is provided with a specimen cup engaging assembly having a handle member connectable thereto such that the handle member extends outwardly from the specimen cup engaging assembly. The connector assembly, which connects the handle member to the specimen cup engaging assembly, is provided with a female member and a male member. The interconnection of the handle member to the specimen cup engaging assembly via the male and female members of the connector assembly enables a person to grasp a gripping portion of the handle member and easily position the specimen cup for receipt of the specimen.

摘要: A specimen gathering device is disclosed which permits a person to position the specimen gathering device for receipt of a specimen without contact with the specimen. Broadly, the specimen gathering device includes a container member and a handle assembly. The handle assembly is provided with a gripping portion which is selectively movable between a first position and a second position. In the first position the gripping portion is disposed substantially adjacent the container member; whereas, in the second position the gripping portion extends outwardly and upwardly form the container member. Thus, when the handle assembly is in the second position, a person grasping the gripping portion of the handle assembly can readily position the container member for receipt of the specimen without contact with the specimen. A specimen cup holder is also provided which comprises a cup engaging member having a handle assembly connected thereto such that the handle assembly can be selectively moved between a first position and a second position.

摘要: Nuclear reactor apparatus for containing, cooling, and dispersing reactor debris assumed to flow from the core area in the unlikely event of an accident causing core meltdown. The apparatus includes a plurality of horizontally disposed vertically spaced plates, having depressions to contain debris in controlled amounts, and a plurality of holes therein which provide natural circulation cooling and a path for debris to continue flowing downward to the plate beneath. The uppermost plates may also include generally vertical sections which form annular-like flow areas which assist the natural circulation cooling.

摘要: A mobile lighting system includes a self-powered mobile base that can be driven long distances and maneuvered in tight locations. An articulateable boom is mounted on the base and has multiple degrees of freedom of movement. A light array is attached to the end of the boom and has additional degrees of freedom of movement. One or more fixtures are mounted on the end of the boom and also have several degrees of freedom of movement, as well as having structure to vary the beam pattern output from each fixture. The system contains power generating means as well as all structure to operate the lights and the boom. Additional features which facilitate the efficient and advantageous provision of the mobile lighting system are also disclosed.

摘要: Steel is prepared for hot-dip coating in molten zinc, by forming lead chloride on it in a greater mass (at least 12 g/m.sup.2) than possible by evaporation from saturated aqueous solution. One way of so forming the lead chloride is to cathodize the steel (24000 coulomb/m.sup.2) in 1:1 HCl saturated with lead chloride, and air-dry the steel. The steel thus prepared is dipped for 2 minutes in molten zinc or, for greater corrosion resistance, in molten scrap zinc.

摘要: A leveling device for leveling the orientation of a suspended light bar, beam, or cross-arm to which is mounted one or more light fixtures includes a bracket secured to the light bar and having an outwardly extending end. An adjustment cable is attached at opposite ends to the light bar and the outwardly extended end of the bracket, and passes through a pulley which is attached to the end of a suspension cable, which suspends the light bar and light fixtures from an elevated structure. An actuator member is attached between the pulley and the extended end of the bracket. Lengthening or retracting of the actuator member causes relational movement of the extended end of the bracket with respect to the pulley which in turn allows the adjustment cable to move through the pulley to shift the suspended support member and vertically align the suspension cable with the center of gravity of the suspended light bar to maintain the light bar in a level position counteracting leveling force against any opposite rotational movement of the light bar.
