摘要： A method of making a refastenable, pant-like, disposable absorbent article includes attaching a pair of opposed side panels to the side edges of an absorbent chassis such hat they extend laterally outward from and between the front and back waist regions of the article. One of the side margins of each side panel is permanently attached to the side edge of the absorbent chassis in one of the waist regions and the other side margin of each side panel is refastenably attached to the side edge of the absorbent chassis in the opposite waist region. The side panels are refastenably attached before the article is packaged to provide the pant-like disposable absorbent article.

摘要： A pant-like, refastenable, disposable absorbent article includes an absorbent chassis, a pair of opposed side panels, a pair of releasable joints and a pair of proportional fasteners. The absorbent chassis defines a pair of laterally opposed side edges and a pair of longitudinally opposed waist edges. The side panels extend between and connect the side edges of the absorbent chassis to define a waist opening and a pair of leg openings in the pant-like disposable absorbent article. Each of the opposed side panels defines a first side margin which is permanently attached to the side edge of the absorbent chassis in one waist region of the absorbent article to provide a permanent joint. Each of the opposed side panels further defines a second side margin opposite the first side margin which is releasably attached to the side edges of the absorbent chassis in the other waist region of the absorbent article to provide the releasable joints. The proportional fasteners are located adjacent the releasable joints and are configured to be smaller in the longitudinal direction than the releasable joints. The fasteners are used to refastenably engage the second side margins of the side panels to the opposite waist region of the absorbent article.

摘要： A pant-like, disposable absorbent article includes an absorbent chassis, a pair of opposed side panels, at least one line of weakness and at least one fastener. The absorbent chassis defines a pair of laterally opposed side edges and a pair of longitudinally opposed waist edges. The side panels extend between the side edges of the absorbent chassis to define a waist opening and a pair of leg openings in the pant-like disposable absorbent article. Each of the opposed side panels defines a first side margin which is permanently attached to the side edge of the absorbent chassis in one waist region of the absorbent article to provide a front permanent joint. The opposed side panels further define a second side margin opposite the first side margin which is permanently attached to the side edge of the absorbent chassis in the other waist region of the absorbent article to provide a back permanent joint. The fastener and the line of weakness are located in one of the side panels, with the line of weakness separating the fastener from one of the permanent joints. The fastener is configured to be released and used to refastenably engage the at least one side panel to the opposite waist region of the absorbent article after the line of weakness is broken.

摘要： A method of making disposable absorbent articles which include an outer cover, an absorbent chassis and an adjustable belt includes providing two continuous, laterally spaced apart ribbons of fastener material and attaching belt segments between and to the ribbons of fastener material at longitudinally spaced apart locations in a continuous ladder type configuration. Two continuous, laterally spaced apart ribbons of belt loop material are also provided inward from and adjacent to each of the ribbons of fastener material. The ribbons of fastener material and ribbons of belt loop material are selectively cut into discrete adjustable belts each of which defines one of the belt segments, a pair of laterally spaced apart fasteners attached to opposite end portions of the belt segment, and a pair of laterally spaced apart belt loops. The longitudinal ends of the belt loops of each of the adjustable belts are attached to a waist region of each of the absorbent articles to slidably contain the adjustable belts between the longitudinal ends of the belt loops. The fasteners on the adjustable belts are configured to releasably engage an opposite waist region of the absorbent article to conform the waist regions to a wearer's body after the absorbent article has been placed on the wearer. The belt loops may include fastener material on a bodyfacing surface to provide another pair of fasteners.

摘要： An absorbent article includes an absorbent pad and an extensible outer cover. The absorbent pad comprises an absorbent core surrounded by a first folded layer and optionally a second folded barrier layer. Folds of the first and second folded layers unfold and thereby open when an extensible bodyside liner and/or outer cover of the absorbent article are extended. The folds, when opened, extend the respective folded layers in a respective cross-direction or longitudinal direction. Extension of the folds of the first and second folded layers prevents tearing of the absorbent pad and damage to, or release of superabsorbent material from the absorbent pad during extension of the absorbent article. The folds can comprise T-folds, C-folds, pleated arrangements, corrugations, or the like.

摘要： Disposable absorbent articles which include an outer cover, an absorbent chassis and a stretch band and methods of making the same are described. The stretch band is incorporated into the article by providing a waist panel which includes a pair of primary fasteners attached to a first surface on opposed side margins of the waist panel. The stretch band is attached to the second surface of the waist panel. The stretch band includes a pair of secondary fasteners on opposite end portions of the stretch band which are releasably engaged with the second surface of the waist panel. The second surface of the waist panel may then be attached to an inner surface of the outer cover such that the stretch band is slidably contained between the outer cover and the waist panel. The primary fasteners on the waist panel and the secondary fasteners on the stretch band are configured to releasably engage an opposite waist region of the absorbent article to initially fasten the absorbent article on the wearer and further conform the waist regions to the wearer's body after the absorbent article has been initially placed on the wearer.

摘要： The present invention is generally directed to adhesive compositions comprising selected ratios of crystalline and amorphous polymers. In some versions of the invention, polymers capable of existing in different configurations (e.g., a polymer such as polypropylene which can exist in an atactic, syndiotactic. or isotactic configuration) is used to prepare adhesives of the present invention. As an example, a selected amount of isotactic polypropylene is blended with a selected amount of atactic polypropylene to prepare an adhesive composition having one or more performance properties (e.g., bond strength) that are superior to the performance properties of a conventional hot-melt adhesive.

摘要： An absorbent article includes an absorbent pad and an outer cover. The absorbent pad includes an absorbent core enveloped by a first layer and a second barrier layer. The first layer and the second barrier layer are secured to each other outwardly of a perimeter of the absorbent core. A deformable third layer is disposed in the absorbent article between the first layer and an outer cover. The deformable layer is adhesively secured to the inner surface of the outer cover. There is no significant securement between the deformable layer and the first layer. In embodiments where the outer cover is extensible in a cross-direction and/or a longitudinal direction, the deformable layer deforms during extension of the outer cover, but such deforming has no significant harmful effect on the first layer. Therefore, damage to the first layer, the second barrier layer, or the absorbent pad, and concomitant release of superabsorbent material from the absorbent pad, is avoided.
