摘要: A method, in a base station providing communications within a coverage area for authorizing and processing calls initiated by portable communication units (PCUs), whereby the base station is coupled to a network control center, comprises receiving (615) registration information, including a value indicating a type of PCU, from a PCU. Further steps include determining (620), in response to receiving (615) the registration information, the PCU type indicated by the value and requesting (610), in response to determining (625) that the PCU is of a specific type, authorization from a network control center for a call initiated by the PCU. A still further step includes processing (650), if authorization is received from the network control center, the call initiated by the PCU.

摘要: A paging system comprising a centrally located terminal and a plurality of remote pager units is disclosed wherein both automatic and manual acknowledge back signalling is provided. An appropriate acknowledge back signal by a called pager within a set interval indicates the message was duly receivied and understood which is so indicated to the initiating caller. Failure to respond within the set interval causes the pager unit to send back a negative response which is likewise so indicated to the initiating caller.

摘要: A battery charger adapter (100) has a housing receptacle (102) formed as a battery for a cellular telephone. The housing receptacle (102) has a recessed portion (104) formed in a base surface (106) of the housing receptacle (102) for receiving a battery pack (200) to be charged, at least one holding clip (108, 110) for securing the battery pack (200) in the recessed portion (104), an electrical coupler (112) for coupling the battery pack (200) to the housing receptacle (102) and an access port (114), coupled to the electrical coupler (112), for electrically coupling the housing receptacle (102) to a charger for enabling the battery pack (200) to be charged in the battery charger adapter (100).

摘要: A method and apparatus whereby a communication unit (10) transmits a first communication channel request signal at a first power level. If a communication link with a base site (12) is not established within a predetermined period, the communication unit transmits a second communication channel request signal at a second level which is higher than the level of the first communication channel request signal. This process may be continued for a predetermined number of times or until a communication link is established. Thus, the probability that a nearby base site, rather than a more distant base site, grants the communication channel is greatly enhanced.

摘要: This radio communication system includes a plurality of remote base stations or callpoints. When an incoming call is to be directed to a cordless telephone, the identifying information for the cordless telephone, along with a call back number or ID is transmitted as by a paging signal by a PABX. Each of the base stations includes a paging receiver for receiving the information. If the base station has a line available it initiates a call to the cordless telephone. A base station that locates the cordless telephone would provide the connection for the call. By calling the PABX utilizing the call back ID, the base station can complete the call.
