    摘要: A helium transfer line adapted to be constructed in extended lengths and to carry liquid helium and/or 4.2.degree.K helium gas with minimum loss of refrigeration capacity due to heat leaks into and through the line. The transfer line, in its basic structure, comprises a fluid helium process line, radiation shielding, vacuum jacketing and a cryogenic coolant line in thermal contact with the radiation shielding and carrying a cryogenic coolant such as liquid nitrogen. Line components, comprising heat-stationed bayonets with or without LN.sub.2 bypass lines, expansion/contraction joints, and flexible sections and, if desired, valves, ell-sections and tee-sections, are designed to be integrated into the basic structure so that this structure may be carried through essentially the entire length of the line. Various combinations of these components in the transfer line make it possible to adapt the transfer line to a wide range of requirements dictated by such factors as space, and the relative positions of the two or more points of connection, i.e., a source of liquid helium and a refrigeration load to be cooled by the liquid helium.

    摘要: A heat-stationed bayonet connector suitable for connecting liquid cryogen sources and refrigeration loads to a cryogenic fluid transfer line or for connecting components such as flexible sections, etc., into the transfer line. The incorporation of a cold heat station in the bayonet connector and its thermal connection to a coolant makes it possible to intercept heat flow along the length of the bayonet and thereby to minimize heat losses associated with the connector. The use of a cryogenic coolant transfer line in the form of a flexible bypass connecting the male and female sections of the bayonet makes it possible to use the bayonet connector in a transfer line which incorporates a cooled radiation shield along essentially its entire length.

    摘要: The present apparatus and method relates in general to sealing a hole in a floor with a precast plug. A precast plug is created by pouring a wet aggregate mix into a form mold and thereafter inserting a pre formed rod into the uncured mixture, positioning it such that the center of the rod rests in the center of the form mold and the ends of the rod extend outward near the top of the form mold. The mix is then cured. The precast plug may then be transported to the hole that it is destined to fix. Grooves may be carved on either side of the hole to accommodate the rod's ends. The interior of the hole and the exterior of the plug may then be covered with a sealant, after which the plug may be inserted into the hole. Once the sealant cures, the hole is fully repaired.

    摘要: A screw-type fluid pump is provided with an elongate casing having a surface defining an internal fluid flow space and a screw within the flow path, fixed to the casing, and having a plurality of flights for continuously conveying fluid from an inlet on the casing to an outlet for appropriate disposition as the screw and casing are rotated. A conduit/torque tube extends through the screw in axially overlapping relationship with the casing over no more than one third the axial extent of the screw at the upper region of the casing. The conduit/torque tube establishes communication between a plurality of pockets between screw turns and the atmosphere to effect pressure equalization so that cavitation in the fluid flow space is prevented as the screw is operated. The conduit/torque tube also transmits the force from a rotary drive to the screw.

    摘要: An insertable drawer member configured and dimensioned for receiving and storing digitally coded discs within an outer housing in a manner which ensures that information bearing areas of said discs are not damaged during insertion or removal therefrom, the insertable drawer member comprising: a base at least partially defined by a pair of opposed side walls, having upon its surface a semicircular groove configured for the insertion of a portion of the digitally coded disc by pressure contact, wherein only a non-information-bearing surface portion of the disc is ever contacted by the drawer member. The drawer member further comprises a lid integrally formed with the base and provided upon at least a portion of a front face thereof with a serrated gripping area to facilitate grasping and moving the drawer member to access the disc. A lower edge of the lid is configured for contact relation with an abutting V-shaped upper edge portion of the outer housing. The drawer member is additionally provided with means for retaining at least a portion thereof within the housing, which are operatively associated with corresponding means located upon an inner surface of the housing.

    摘要: A cylindrical storage tank of large diameter and depth is concentrically surrounded by a settling tank that has a width to internal diameter ratio that provides essentially plug flow. Liquid containing suspended particles capable of separation by settling is introduced into the upper part of a body of liquid in the settling tank at a zero radius of the tank at a controlled rate and flows slowly in both directions around the storage tank to a weir which extends no more than about halfway around the storage tank and is bisected by a 180.degree. radius of the tank. A slurry of particle-laden liquid is drawn from the lower part of the settling tank, and relatively particle-free surface liquid flows over the weir into the storage tank from which it is drained at a controlled rate.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for controlling a resonant power module comprising a resonant power circuit which is coupled to a load. First and second switching elements are coupled to the resonant circuit for alternately supplying a flow of current. Trigger generator means are provided for supplying trigger signals to alternately enable the first and second switching elements. A control means is coupled to the trigger generator for operating the power module in a first mode in which the resonant circuit current is controlled by varying the repetition rate of the trigger signals. The control means operates the power module in a second mode by maintaining the trigger signal repetition rate at a fixed limit and controlling the resonant circuit current by varying the on/off duty cycle of the power module.
