Abstract:
When loading liquefied gas in a non-cooled skirt-supported tank the transitional area between the tank wall and the skirt is cooled down by direct cooling. Cooling arrangements for such cooling are disclosed.
Abstract:
A ship having large, internally insulated, self-supporting spherical tanks for transport of liquefied gases is described. Different insulation materials are presented. Control systems for the insulation is provided. Also a method for applying the insulation is disclosed.
Abstract:
A leak protection system on a tank for storing or transporting liquefied gas, having leak collection means which open out above a catch basin placed beneath the tank. The catch basin is of sufficiently large dimensions to permit the gradual evaporation of the leaked material, and is subdivided into a plurality of cells.
Abstract:
A floating plant for offshore liquefaction, temporary storage and loading of LNG, made as a semi-submersible platform with storage tanks for LNG arranged in the submerged section of the platform. The storage tanks are independent spherical tanks which are supported inside the submerged section of the platform and completely surrounded thereby.
Abstract:
A control system for achieving optimum use of the energy from a vessel's main energy source. The vessel control system includes a main energy source, a generator device, at least one motor, and a power line network connecting the main energy source, the generator device and the at least one motor. The system further includes a maneuvering device for controlling the main energy source, the generator device and the at least one motor. A global positioning system is provided in the control system, together with a programmable logic control device for receiving information from at least one of the maneuvering device and the global positioning system, and for transmitting control impulses to the at least one motor for operation thereof based on an optimization data program for obtaining desired movement of the vessel. An electric control network connects the main energy source, the generator device and the at least one motor to the maneuvering device, the global positioning system and the programmable logic control device. The programmable logic control device is arranged to receive information concerning a desired movement of the vessel from, e.g. the maneuvering device or the GP system and to transmit control impulses to the motors for the operation thereof based on an optimization data program for achieving the desired movement of the vessel with a minimum energy consumption.
Abstract:
A power unit with a diesel free piston device which is fed with air from a compressor device (96), and whose exhaust gas runs a turbine (150). The device has a cylinder (12) with two pistons (24, 26) which are movable in anti-phase and which between them define a combustion chamber (54). The cylinder end sections (36, 38) comprise buffer end chambers (56, 58). An electronic device (160) controls the pressure of the air in the end chambers (56, 58, 256, 258). A central piston section (48, 50) of each piston together with a related cylinder section (40, 42) forms a piston pump chamber (68, 70) which supplies the device's inlet manifold (80) and a mixing chamber (148) with compressed air, exhaust gases and the compressed air being mixed in the mixing chamber before being passed to the turbine (150). The electronic device (160) also controls the pressure of the air in the compression chambers (68, 70) by means of the compressor device, valves, pressure sensors, etc.
Abstract:
A spherical tank is supported by a vertical skirt extending from the tank equator down to a foundation. An enclosed space defined by the spherical tank, the skirt and the foundation is made pressure tight and is connected to a pressure-regulating system, thus permitting regulation of the pressure within the space.
Abstract:
A cooling water intake (1) is constructed as an integral body from a composite material, having a duct (2) running from a first opening (3), adapted to face toward the sea, and to a second opening (4), where the cooling water intake may be connected to the cooling water system of a motor. The duct (2) is curved inward and toward the stern, and the duct cross section is flattened near the first opening, which faces to the sea. Toward the second opening (4) the cross section of the duct progresses into a conventional circular cross section. The invention also relates to a method for fabricating a cooling water intake body.
Abstract:
A one-atmosphere underwater modular system is provided. The modular system comprises components which can be manipulated and attached to one another through use of a submarine or the like. A variety of components are provided including: a maneuvarable submarine component; a bottom frame; a two-connection module; a one-connection module; and christmas tree modules. A variety of means and methods for connection in various orientations is disclosed. The system is specifically adapted for use in the recovery of natural resources, such as for oil and gas recovery.
