    摘要: A system and method of locating a lost wireless communication device is provided. A remote server is contacted to indicate that the wireless communication device is lost. A lost device policy setting is then activated in a database coupled to the remote server, the lost device policy setting indicating that the wireless communication device is lost. In response to activation of the lost device policy setting, a remote location command is then transmitted from the remote server to the wireless communication device via a wireless network. The remote location command is subsequently received at the lost wireless communication device, which processes the remote location command such that a user of the wireless communication device can locate the device.

    摘要: A bypass server is placed in an outgoing link between a mobile device server and a relay used to distribute data from the mobile device server to remote mobile devices to which the data is addressed. Where a direct connection is established between a suitably configured network node (such as a personal computer) and a given mobile device, the bypass server may form a local connection with the network node and divert along the local connection those packets that are addressed to the given mobile device. As such, a lower cost/higher bandwidth local communication path between the given mobile device and the mobile device server may be established, when compared to the conventional remote communication path. The local communication path may be especially useful for bulk data transfers.

    摘要: A system for assigning a network address to a wireless device includes a network server, a virtual device manager, and an address resolution (AR) module. In one embodiment, the system is operable to push information from an information source within a computer network to the wireless device. In this embodiment, the network server is coupled to the computer network, and is operable to receive a network identification for the wireless device from the information source and return a network address associated with the wireless device to the information source. The virtual device manager is also coupled to the computer network, and may be accessed on the computer network using any of a plurality of network addresses, including the network address associated with the wireless device. The AR module is coupled to the virtual device manager, and is operable to receive the network address associated with the wireless device and determine an identification of the wireless device within a wireless network. In operation, the virtual device manager receives information from the information source that is transmitted from the information source to the virtual device manager using the network address associated with the wireless device, and accesses the AR module to determine the identification of the wireless device within the wireless network. The information is then transmitted to the wireless device via the wireless network using the identification of the wireless device within the wireless network.
