摘要: An improved pump and sealing assembly having particular utility to vertically extending pumps/pump shafts provides an arrangement that enables field repair as opposed to requiring travel of the host vessel to a shipyard. The apparatus includes an adapter housing that is configured to provide easy access to set screws that enable field disassembly. This adapter housing carries a sleeve and a bearing. The adapter housing can be fitted to a pump seal assembly that can include a mechanical seal and under bearing assembly.

摘要: Apparatus and method for shielding leakage from a flanged pipe coupling comprising: a housing having a front wall, a rear wall, and a top wall, the top wall depending downwardly to form side walls intermediate the front and rear walls thus forming a closure having a bottom which is open; wherein the housing contains an interior space in between the front and rear wall and below the top wall, the interior space shaped to fit around a flanged pipe coupling; and wherein the housing is shaped so as to prevent rotation of the apparatus with respect to the flanged pipe coupling.

摘要: A modular hydraulic hammer reduction system for railroad tank cars includes tubular hydraulic hammer reduction devices which include means to connect the tubular devices to flanges other than by welding or being cast together. For example, the tubular devices can be press fit into the flanges, or the tubular devices can be connected to the flanges with snap rings (preferably spiral-lock snap rings), or even more preferably the tubular devices can be press fit into the flanges and the tubular devices can be connected to the flanges with snap rings (preferably spiral-lock snap rings). The advantage of this modular construction is that one can manufacture multiple tubular devices and multiple flanges of each type, and connect the flanges to the tubular devices on an as-needed basis. This is preferable to having many of each type of hydraulic hammer reduction system assembled and ready to be delivered, as the demand for different types of hydraulic hammer reduction systems varies and storing fully assembled devices will take up more space.

摘要: The present invention provides a method of replacing a failed pump seal of a pump having a pump housing and a rotating pump shaft. As part of the method, there is provided a specially configured rescue seal. The rescue seal is placed on the pump shaft above the failed seal so that the pump shaft extends through both the failed seal and the rescue seal. In order to affix the rescue seal to the pump shaft and above the failed seal, a plurality of studs are first attached to the pump housing after removing some of the bolts that fasten the failed seal to the pump housing. The failed seal is then secured to the studs with nuts. Nuts are then placed on the studs to secure the rescue seal to the studs above the failed seal.

摘要: An improved mechanical seal and repair method can be used with mechanical pump seal assemblies. The improved seal utilizes rotating and non-rotating sections of improved configuration, each of which can form a seal using a standard size carbon-face O-ring. The rotating section includes an upper seal member and a lower drive member, the upper seal member being made of a first material and the lower drive member being made of a second material, the upper seal member and the lower drive member being connected such that movement of the lower drive member causes movement (rotation) of the upper seal member. The mechanical seal can be in the form of replacement parts that replace the old parts without modifications to the overall seal and assembly.
