The mobile device operating with a wearable device includes a display configured to display a private screen which is personalized to a user after authentication of the wearable device based on at least one of a user state and an operational state of the mobile device and a controller configured to control the display to display the private screen after the authentication.

Methods and apparatuses for transmitting data to an external device are provided. The method includes establishing a communication link with the external device by using a first application, and displaying a first window that corresponds to the first application, in response to an execution request for a second application that is different from the first application, displaying a second window that corresponds to the second application as a background of the first window, receiving a sharing mode request via the first window, and in response to the sharing mode request, setting an operation mode of the device as a sharing mode, and transmitting data that is provided from the second application to the external device via the communication link.

The controller may be further configured to, in response to one part of the image being selected, perform the control operation matched with the selected part. Accordingly, a user's own home screen can be displayed.

A portable terminal device using a touch pen and a handwriting input method thereof are provided. The handwriting input method of the portable terminal device using a touch pen includes displaying an execution screen of an application on a touch screen in response to the application being executed, overlapping a handwriting input layer, which is configured for a handwriting input, with the execution screen, inputting a handwriting image on an area of the handwriting input layer using the touch pen, determining a data type for recognizing the input handwriting image in consideration of an attribute of the area corresponding to a position in which the handwriting image has been input on the execution screen, and recognizing the input handwriting image as the determined data type, and applying a recognized result of the determined data type to the application.

The method for providing the UI of the portable apparatus includes determining whether motion of shaking the portable apparatus a predetermined number of times is input or not using a sensor included in the portable apparatus, and, if the motion of shaking the portable apparatus the predetermined number of times is input, providing haptic feedback according to a number of pieces of information displayed on a notice window of the portable apparatus. Accordingly, if a predetermined event occurs, haptic feedback corresponding to the predetermined event is provided, so that the user can identify the event without seeing a display.
