Abstract:
The invention comprises dyes of the formula where A is a dyestuff residue free from sulphonic acid groups; R1 and R2 are H or alkyl; y is a direct bond or a bivalent radical; -CZ is an aromatic heterocycle which contains a quaternary nitrogen and may contain further hetero atoms or substituents, or be condensed with further rings; n is 1 or 2 and m is an integer greater than or equal to n. The compounds are prepared either by reacting compounds of the formulae where -CZ1 is -CZ or an unquaternized version thereof, B is A or is the residue of a compound capable of forming A, or by first reacting the above vinyl compound with ammonia or a primary amine to give where R is H or optionally substituted hydrocarbon which is then reacted with a dyestuff or dyestuff intermediate containing a reactive group to give a compound of the formula and if necessary B is then converted to A and the dyestuff quaternated.
WHEREIN R is lower alkyl or substituted lower alkyl, R'' is hydrogen or methyl, R1 is alkyl of at least two carbon atoms, haloalkyl of at least two carbon atoms, aryl, substituted aryl, benzyl or substituted benzyl, R2 is methyl or ethyl, and A is an anion, are useful for dyeing and printing polymers and copolymers of acrylonitrile and polyamides and polyesters which have been modified by the introduction of acid groups.
Abstract:
The invention comprises basic dyes of formula wherein R1 is hydrogen or a C1-C8 alkyl group, R2 is a methyl or ethyl group, R3 is a chlorine or bromine atom, or cyano or C1-C8 alkyl-sulphonyl group, R4 is a hydrogen, chlorine or bromine atom and Z is a C1-C3 alkylene or -CHOH.CH2-group. The dyes are prepared by diazotizing an amine of formula and coupling the diazonium compound with a compound of formula The dyes are preferably used to colour articles made from polymers composed of more than 80% acrylonitrile in red, blue or brown shades.
