Abstract: A system and method are provided for adding chemicals to a produced fluid in a wellbore. An exemplary system includes a gauge hanger and a permeable container. The permeable container includes a solid cylindrical body, end caps placed at each end of the solid cylindrical body, and holes disposed proximate to each end of the permeable container, wherein the holes allow the produced fluid to flow through the permeable container from one end of the permeable container to the opposite end of the permeable container. The system further includes a well treatment chemical disposed in the permeable container.

Abstract: A process of treating nano-filtration membrane retentate comprises introducing seawater comprising a sulfate ion concentration of greater than or equal to 3000 mg/l to the NF membrane to produce a retentate stream and a permeate stream, wherein the retentate stream has a sulfate ion concentration greater than or equal to 10,000 mg/l, and mixing barium additives comprising barium chloride dehydrate (BaCl2.2H2O), barium chloride (BaCl2), or both with the retentate stream to precipitate sulfate from the retentate stream to form barite (BaSO4) and reduce the sulfate ion concentration, wherein the barium additives are added into the retentate stream at a barium ion concentration of greater than 10,000 mg/l.

Abstract: A system and method for generating base water and precipitate, including combining produced water with seawater to precipitate barium sulfate from barium in the produced water and from sulfate in the seawater, and separating the precipitate to give the base water and the precipitate. The base water may have less than a specified amount of sulfate and be utilized for hydraulic fracturing fluid. The precipitate may give a weighting agent for drilling.

Abstract: A method for wellbore treatment. The method including preparing an encapsulated treatment agent via polymerization, feeding the encapsulated treatment agent into the wellbore, delivering the encapsulated treatment agent to a desired depth within a formation in the wellbore, activating an acoustic or an electromagnetic source at the desired depth within the formation, and generating an acoustic field or an electromagnetic field. The acoustic field or electromagnetic field activates the encapsulant thereby releasing the treatment agent into the wellbore and a desired depth.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a method of producing a viscoelastic surfactant (VES) fluid, the VES fluid comprising desulfated seawater. The method of producing the VES fluid comprises adding an alkaline earth metal halide to seawater to produce a sulfate precipitate. The method further comprises removing the sulfate precipitate to produce the desulfated water. The method further comprises adding a VES and one or more of a nanoparticle viscosity modifier or a polymeric modifier to the desulfated seawater. Other embodiments are directed to VES fluids that maintain a viscosity greater than 10 cP at temperatures above 250° F.

Abstract: A system for surveying internal pipeline scaling includes a control system, a gauge cutter, a scale recorder, and a wireline. The control system communicates with the scale recorder to obtain scale recorder data and acoustic images. The gauge cutter dislodges scaling debris from an interior wall of the pipeline and includes a fluid permeable screen which collects the dislodged scaling debris. The scale recorder obtains scale recorder data and acoustic images, and includes an ultrasound wave transmitter, an ultrasound wave receiver, a processor, a memory, and a communication interface. The wireline lowers the gauge cutter in the pipeline and is coupled to the control system and the communication interface.
