Abstract: A metallocene complex according to formula 1 wherein M is a metal selected from lanthanides or transition metals from group 3, 4, 5, or 6, Q is an anionic ligand to M, k is the number of Q groups and equals the valence of M minus 2, X is a cyclic bridging group that is bonded to a carbon atom of the cyclopentadienyl ligand and to nitrogen, Z1, and Z4 are hydrogen or a hydrocarbon radical with 1-20 carbon atoms; adjacent substituents Z2 and Z3 and are connected to form an indenyl or tetrahydroindenyl ring system and R is hydrogen or a hydrocarbon radical with 1-20 carbon atoms. Also described is a composition comprising the metallocene complex, a process for the preparation of the complex, and a process for the polymerization of olefin polymers in the presence of the metallocene complex.

Abstract: A process to prepared bridged bis(indenyl)ligands, comprising the step of reacting a 2-indenylpinacolyl borane compound with a bromosubstituted compound in the presence of a Pd catalyst and a base to form the corresponding bridged bis(indenyl) ligand. The process may further comprise the step of reacting a 2-bromo indene compound with pinacolborane in the presence of a Pd catalyst and a base to form the corresponding 2-indenylpinacolylborane compound. These bridged bis(indenyl)ligands may suitably be used in the preparation of metallocene complexes, such as 2,2′-bis(2-indenyl)biphenyl ZrCl2 and 1,2-bis(2-indenyl)benzene ZrCl2. These metallocene complexes may be used for the polymerization, optionally in the presence of a cocatalyst, of one or more α-olefins, preferably for the polymerization of ethylene.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a catalyst composition for the polymerisation of olefins comprising a support containing a single site catalyst component, a catalyst activator and a modifier wherein the modifier is the product of reacting an aluminum compound of general formula AI(R1, R2, R3) with an amine compound of general formula N(R4, R5, R6). The catalyst composition reduces fouling and/or sheeting when used to catalyse the polymerisation of olefins. The present invention also relates to a method for the polymerisation of olefins using the catalyst composition of the invention.

Where the 2-indenylboranic acid (ester) is the pinacolester of 2-indenylboranic acid, the process may further comprise reacting a 2-bromo indene compound with pinacolborane in the presence of a Pd catalyst and a base to form the corresponding 2-indenylpinacolylborane compound. Bridged bis(indenyl)ligands may suitably be used in the preparation of metallocene complexes, such as 2,2′-bis(2-indenyl)biphenyl ZrCl2 and 1,2-bis (2-indenyl)benzene ZrCl2.
