    Abstract: A blow out preventer includes a blow out preventer body, at least one pipe ram disposed in the blow out preventer body which opens or closes in at least one respective cavity defined by the blow out preventer body, an inverted pipe ram disposed in the blow out preventer body which opens or closes in a respective cavity defined by the blow out preventer body, and a pressure management system for adjusting pressure within the blow out preventer below damaging pressure levels as one or more of the at least one pipe ram and the inverted pipe ram open or close in a respective cavity. In some cases, a second pipe ram disposed in the blow out preventer body which opens or closes in a respective cavity defined by the blow out preventer body.
