Abstract: A printing apparatus includes: a mechanism transporting a print medium; a first sensor outputting a signal indicating the presence or absence of a first mark; a first determining unit determining, on a first surface, a position of a second mark and a print position of an image based on the output signal; a first print head printing the second mark and the image at the determined print positions; a second sensor outputting a signal indicating the presence or absence of the first and second marks; a second determining unit locating a position of a predetermined one of the first and second marks, based on the signal output from the second sensor, and determines, on a second surface of the print medium, a print position of a target image based on the located position of the predetermined mark; and a second print head printing the target image at the determined print position.

Abstract: When a printing interruption cause occurs during printing of an image on a printing medium, printing of a page being printed is completed, and further only a position mark is printed on a printing resumption page. Then, a printing unit is stopped, and a conveyance speed is decelerated to stop conveyance of the printing medium. Next, the printing medium is rewound so that printing is resumed from the printing resumption page. Thereafter, the conveyance speed is accelerated to a predetermined speed, and printing is resumed from the printing resumption page on which the position mark is printed.

Abstract: A printing apparatus comprises: a transport mechanism that transports a recording medium; a first line head group including a first line head in number of N that ejects first ink; a second line head group including a second line head in number of M that ejects second ink; and a controller, where M is a natural number larger than N. The line heads form images along lines extending in a width direction along a surface of the recording medium by ejecting ink droplets from a plurality of nozzles aligned in the width direction. In a first printing step, the controller makes each of the first line head in number of N perform printing process on every N-th line, while making each of the second line heads in number of M perform the printing process on every M-th line. Thus, in an inkjet printing apparatus that executes a multiple printing step by using several types of ink, a print quality is increased while reduction in a processing speed in a printing step is restricted. Further, size increase of the apparatus is restricted.
