Abstract: A reception device is provided that includes circuitry configured to receive a container. The container includes a video stream obtained by encoding video data. The video data is obtained by performing photoelectric conversion on input data of a high dynamic range image. The container further includes characteristic information for an electro-optical conversion of the video data that is inserted into a layer of the video stream and/or a layer of the container. The characteristic information indicates one of a plurality of types for the electro-optical conversion. The circuitry is configured to process the video stream included in the container.

Abstract: A transmission device including circuitry is provided. The circuitry is configured to apply photoelectric conversion characteristics to high dynamic range video data to obtain transmission video data. The circuitry is configured to transmit a container including a video stream obtained by encoding the transmission video data. The circuitry is configured to insert type information to designate the type of conversion characteristics corresponding to the applied photoelectric conversion characteristics for photoelectric conversion of the transmission video data into a layer of the video stream and/or a layer of the container. The type of the conversion characteristics designated by the type information is determined regardless of luminance of a display.

Abstract: There is provided a transmission apparatus including circuitry and a transmitter. The circuitry is configured to generate a video stream that switches between transmission video data of a plurality of types. The plurality of types of the transmission video data has different opto-electronic conversion characteristics. The circuitry is configured to insert conversion characteristic information into a multiplexed stream that includes the video stream. The conversion characteristic information indicates the type of one of the transmission video data included in the video stream. The circuitry is configured to insert display switch information of a switching picture into the video stream. The transmitter is configured to transmit the multiplexed stream that includes the video stream.

Abstract: It is made possible to obtain a common image between a VR-compatible terminal and a VR non-compatible terminal when distributing VR content. A projection picture having a rectangular shape is obtained by cutting off a part or the whole of a spherical capture image and performing in-plane packing on the cut-off spherical capture image. A video stream is obtained by encoding image data of this projection picture. A container containing this video stream is transmitted. Meta information for rendering the projection picture is inserted into at least one of a layer of the container or a layer of the video stream. The center of a cut-out position indicated by cut-out position information inserted in a layer of the video stream is adjusted to coincide with a reference point of the projection picture indicated by the meta information for rendering.

Abstract: An excellent display can be performed even when the frame rate changes dynamically at the reception side. When a switching portion at which a sequence of video streams to be transmitted is switched from a first sequence to a second sequence having a different frame rate from the first sequence is provided, display control information is inserted into at least encoded image data of a picture corresponding to the switching portion or a packet containing the encoded image data. A reception side performs display control of pictures using the display control information and implements an excellent display.

Abstract: The luminance atmosphere that the creator intends is excellently reproduced on the receiving end. The transmission video data is obtained by applying a predetermined opto-electrical transfer function to the input video data. The transmission video data is transmitted together with the luminance conversion acceptable range information about a set region in the screen. For example, a transmitting unit transmits a video stream obtained by encoding the transmission video data while inserting the luminance conversion acceptable range information into a layer of the video stream. The receiving end obtains display video data by applying an electro-optical transfer function corresponding to the predetermined opto-electrical transfer function to the transmission video data, and performing a luminance conversion process in each of the set regions independently in accordance with the luminance conversion acceptable range information.

Abstract: Convenience is achieved in performing processing depending on decoding capability in a reception side. High-frame-rate ultra-high-definition image data is processed to obtain first image data for acquisition of a base-frame-rate high-definition image, second image data for acquisition of a high-frame-rate high-definition image by being used with the first image data, third image data for acquisition of a base-frame-rate ultra-high-definition image by being used with the first image data, and fourth image data for acquisition of a high-frame-rate ultra-high-definition image by being used with the first to third image data. A container is transmitted including a predetermined number of video streams including encoded image data of the first to fourth image data. Information is inserted into the container, the information corresponding to information that is inserted into each of the predetermined number of video streams and associated with image data included in the video streams.
