    Abstract: A linear lighting assembly is disclosed which produces tailored light distributions valuable in many illumination applications. The linear lighting assembly comprises a unique light scattering optical element within a single edge lit linear lighting module housing configured to fit within a linear light fixture housing, both housings capable of being fabricated in a continuous extrusion process and cut to length as need for specific linear lighting assembly lengths. Light distributions attainable using the invention include, but are not limited to, symmetric and asymmetric bi-lobed “batwing” distributions for wide area direct and indirect lighting, and tilted or asymmetric distributions for perimeter lighting. It is also possible to achieve more rounded and symmetric distributions by an additional diffuser as a cover lens. The invention is particularly well-suited for linear lighting fixtures that are surface mounted, suspended or recessed. Various embodiments also provide means for adjusting light distributions dynamically to control light output characteristics by controlling the input signals to the LED board included in the assembly.

    Abstract: Described are various embodiments of a luminaire and output element coupling mechanism therefor. In one embodiment, a recessable luminaire comprises two or more luminaire modules, each one of which comprising a recessable housing having opposed side walls. The luminaire further comprises an output element securable along and between these side walls to at least partially define an output of the luminaire, and opposed inwardly biased output coupling structures extending at least partially along respective side walls and adapted to receive and resiliently secure corresponding edges of the output element therein.

    Abstract: A linear light fixture assembly for supporting a light fixture in a ceiling structure, comprises a light fixture mounting structure having a pair of opposed boundary regions configured to fit within a designated light fixture receiving region in the ceiling structure, and a plurality of spring elements configured to spaced outwardly from at least one of the boundary regions, each spring element having a mounting region configured to be anchored to the mounting structure and a free end region to extend therefrom and to be laterally outwardly biased in a first position to form a path of contact with a support surface region on the ceiling structure to anchor the structure in the receiving region, each of the spring elements configured to be movable toward the corresponding boundary region in a second position to release the path of contact to release the light fixture from the receiving region.
