Abstract: An exterior molding for automobiles having a channel shaped metallic member filled with vinyl material and a vinyl bumper secured to the outer surface of the channel. Adhesive tape is employed to secure the molding to the supporting surface. The surfaces of the channel are selectively primed and vinyl material is extruded directly on to the surfaces of the channel and removed from the un-primed surfaces.

Abstract: A gasket and decorative trim assembly is provided for mounting a fixed window panel such as a windshield relative to the window opening in a vehicle and for sealing the joint between the window panel and vehicle. The assembly includes a gasket portion by which the mounting and sealing is achieved and a trim strip portion which provides the marginal area of the mounted window panel with a decorative appearance. The gasket portion is produced from rubber material and the trim strip portion is interengaged therewith by cooperative slot means in the gasket portion and projection means on the trim portion. The structural relationship between the gasket portion and trim portion provides for the use of narrower gasket components and/or wider trim strip components than heretofore possible.

Abstract: A joint construction for plastic trim strip structures is disclosed in which a metal plate is positioned over and in engagement with the surfaces of abutting strip sections to be joined together. The plate is shaped to the general configuration of the joint to be formed and is bonded to the strip sections to form a firm interconnection with the strips. Securement of the metal plate is accomplished by coating the plate with a plastisol primer and heating the coated plate with a heating iron to bond the plate to the strip.
