    摘要: A theft-resistant assembly for screw base compact fluorescent lamps of the type having at least one U-tube integrated with and extending from an adapter member. The adapter member has a threaded portion for engagement with a lamp socket. The assembly includes a ring for disposition around a protrusion of the lamp socket protrusion, arms upstanding from the ring with each of the arms having an arm connector thereon, a collar for disposition around the U-tube and for engagement with a top surface of the adapter member, and legs depending from the collar with each of the legs having a leg connector thereon. The leg connectors are lockingly engageable with the arm connectors, respectively, to lock the collar to the ring, whereby to lock the adapter member to the socket.

    摘要: A high DC voltage power supply includes a three-phase autotransformer and a three-phase full-wave rectifier applied to the usual motor vehicle electrical system of the low DC voltage type. The low three-phase AC voltage of the usual system is transformed by the autotransformer to obtain a high three-phase AC voltage which is then rectified by the rectifier to provide a high DC voltage. The load energized by the high DC voltage is ungrounded to reduce the voltage available for inadvertent discharge from either load terminal to ground. Switching apparatus is provided for selectively applying the low three-phase AC voltage to the autotransformer only when it is desired to energize the load thereby avoiding at all other times the energy losses that would otherwise be associated with energization of the autotransformer. In one embodiment, the load is a windshield heater element and the autotransformer has multiple sets of input taps to provide deice and defog modes of operation, respectively. The tapping of the autotransformer on the input or primary side yields efficiencies in the construction and operation of the autotransformer. The engine driven generator of the vehicle electrical system is excited from a voltage source independent of the low three-phase AC voltage put out by the generator, at least during any period that the generator is overloaded, thereby to prevent a degenerative collapse in the generator output voltage.

The processes, and resulting compositions, are characterized by the addition of certain organosilanes in the composition prior to solidifying (cooling) the composition. The resulting solidified composition has improved water stability.The compositions can be used as mortars or concretes depending on the particle size of the principal aggregate component.

    摘要: Aromatic sulfide/sulfone polymers are prepared by initially contacting a dihaloaromatic sulfone, an alkali metal sulfide, an organic amide, and, optionally, an alkali metal carboxylate under polymerization conditions and subsequently at or near completion of the polymerization reaction, adding an end-capping agent comprising additional dihaloaromatic sulfone to the reaction mixture producing a polymer exhibiting improved physical properties including melt flow stability. The resulting polymers have utility as coatings, films, molded objects, filaments, fibers, and the like.

Minor amounts of other polyamide-forming materials can be included in the copolyamide to provide up to 30 percent of the nitrogen atoms and up to 30 percent of the carbonyl groups. When used as adhesives, these copolyamides possess very good initial T-peel strength.

    摘要: A method is provided for producing p-phenylene sulfide polymers by contacting a p-dihalobenzene, an alkali metal sulfide, an alkali metal carboxylate, an organic amide, and an alkali metal carbonate at polymerization conditions. The use of an alkali metal carbonate in addition to the other compounds contacted to form a composition results in p-phenylene sulfide polymers of higher molecular weight than produced without the alkali metal carbonate, as evidenced by higher inherent viscosity and lower melt flow of the polymer than produced by compared methods.
