摘要： An access system for surgical procedures includes an insertion tube having a distal end and a lumen, a pair of instrument delivery tubes extending through the lumen of the insertion tube, each instrument delivery tube having a fixed longitudinal position relative to the insertion tube and a steerable distal portion positioned distal to the distal end of the insertion tube. Proximal actuators are moveable to steer the distal portions of the instrument delivery tubes through manipulation of the handles of instruments extending through those tubes. First and second rigid tubes are mounted within the lumen, at least one of which has a distal end disposed within the lumen.

摘要： A surgical system includes an instrument driver having a distal end positionable in a body cavity and a user input device. The instrument driver and user input device are positioned to removably receive distal and proximal portions, respectively, of a surgical instrument. The user input device is configured to generate movement signals in response to manual manipulation of the proximal portion of the surgical instrument. At least one motor operable to actuate the instrument driver in response to the movement signals and to thereby change position of the distal portion of the surgical instrument within the body cavity.

摘要： Deflectable instrument shafts are formed of alternating segments, each of which has a first end or face contacting an adjacent segment along a first plane, and a second end or face contacting an adjacent segment along a second plane that is transverse to the first plane. In some embodiments, the alternating segments are first and second segments having differently shaped contacting ends/faces. In other embodiment the alternating segments are identical to one another but are positioned such that segments having their first contacting end/face facing distally are alternated with segments having their second contacting ends/faces facing distally.
