Wireless communication in a wireless network comprises a wireless station obtaining a transmission opportunity period (TXOP) for communicating with an access point (AP) over a wireless communication channel. The wireless station sends an announcement to the AP to share the transmission opportunity period with at least another wireless station, as a multi-user transmission opportunity period for simultaneously transmitting data from said wireless stations to the AP on multiple uplink (UL) spatial streams over the wireless channel. UL TXOP transmission information is communicated based on one or more indications included in a quality of service (QoS) data frame and a frame header.

A method and system of integrated wireless power and data transmission in a wireless device having a data communication circuit for wireless data communication and a power reception circuit including a charge storage unit. The wireless device is tuned to receive wireless RF signals in a certain frequency band via an antenna. Switching between power reception mode and data communication mode is detected. Received RF signal electrical charge is selectively distributed to the power reception circuit and/or the data communication circuit based on the switching mode and/or strength of the RF signal.

Wireless communication in a wireless system using a multiple user transmission opportunity is provided. Data blocks at a wireless station are transmitted to multiple wireless receivers over a shared wireless communication medium. The data blocks are organized in order of transmission priority based on access categories. Contention for access to the communication medium during a transmission opportunity period is based on a backoff timer of each access category and the transmission priority. Upon successful contention for a transmission opportunity period, during the transmission opportunity period, a data block of a primary access category is wirelessly transmitted from the wireless station to one or more primary destination wireless receivers. Simultaneously, a data block of a secondary access category is wirelessly transmitted from the wireless station to one or more secondary destination wireless receivers.

Abstract:
In one aspect of the present invention, a method for managing communications in a sensor network will be described. A coordinator device receives charging interval data from an energy harvesting sensor device. A sleeping interval for the sensor device is determined. A beacon frame is transmitted from the coordinator device to one more sensor devices in a network. The timing of the transmission is based at least in part on the sleeping interval data. The beacon frame may contain requests, commands or other data designated specifically for the sensor device. Various other aspects of the invention relate to the sensor device, the coordinator device and/or their operations.
