Abstract: Disclosed are a communication technique for merging, with IoT technology, a 5G communication system for supporting a data transmission rate higher than that of a 4G system, and a system therefor. The disclosure can be applied to an intelligent service (for example, smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car or connected car, health care, digital education, retail, security and safety-related services, and the like) on the basis of 5G communication technology and IoT-related technology. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method by which a base station transmits a signal in a wireless communication system comprises the steps of: transmitting, to a terminal through at least one beam, at least one beam index including information on beam direction; receiving, from the terminal, a preferred beam index determined by the terminal; determining a channel matrix between the base station and the terminal on the basis of the preferred beam index; and allowing the base station to transmit a signal to the terminal on the basis of the channel matrix. The study has been performed under the support of the “Government-wide Giga KOREA Business” of the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning.
