Abstract: A three-dimensional (3D) backlight unit and a display apparatus including the 3D backlight unit are provided. The 3D backlight unit may include a light source configured to emit light, and a light guide plate configured to guide the light emitted by the light source. The light guide plate may include output elements that allow a portion of the light guided by the light guide plate to be directed to exit the light guide plate, and a cross section of at least one of the output elements has an inverted trapezoid form. The output elements may allow a portion of light reflected from a lower surface of the light guide plate to an upper surface of the light guide plate to be directed to exit the light guide plate.

Abstract: A display apparatus, and a light guide plate (LGP) of the display apparatus are provided. The LGP may include a first light guide segment and a second light guide segment that are alternately arranged in a first direction. The first light guide segment and the second light guide segment may be separated from each other by a light barrier.
