Abstract: A one-size-fits-all garment (10) is formed of multiple stretchable fabric portions (2) joined together by a PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) thread (38). The garment includes a waistband (6) that uses a paper fusing technique to fuse a fusing material from a paper backing sheet (18, 18A, 18B), onto the waistband which is also joined to the stretchable fabric portions using PBT thread. A method for forming the garment includes using a sheet of carrier paper with a fusing material such as a plurality of discrete dots of fusing material, to the waistband and sewing the multiple stretching stretchable fabric portions together and to the waistband using the PBT thread.

Abstract: The disclosure provides a compression garment (68) formed of a stretchable fabric (10) with a uniform, i.e. constant, elasticity but in which the compression garment provides different degrees of garment compression when worn by a wearer due to geometric cuts (6, 8) made to the fabric to form one or more fabric panels (2, 4) that extend the entire length of the circumferential portion (60) of the garment. The circumferential portion surrounds a wearer's body part (66) and includes degrees of compression that vary at different locations (12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26), along the axial direction (62). The geometric cuts produce non-linear edges (6A, 6B, 8A, 8B) and are made to provide different circumferential lengths (12F, 14F, 16F, 18F, 20F, 22F, 24F, 26F) of fabric that produce desired compression levels at various axial locations, and are calculated using formulas and algorithms that take into account various factors relating to the fabric and the garment being formed.

Abstract: A real-time motion capture system and garment includes a wearable activity monitor that may be a pair of denim jeans. The wearable activity monitor includes multiple sensors such as accelerometers, gyrometers, magnetometers disposed within the seams of the garment. A microprocessor and wireless transmitter) communicate the motion data to an external device. The microprocessor and wireless transmitter may be included within one of the seams. An elastically stretchable ribbon or a flexible ribbon such as a kapton ribbon or a ribbon formed of textile, electrically couples the sensors and microprocessor and is also disposed inside the seams and the components within the seam are coated with a waterproof coating. The external device can store the data or display and analyze the data real-time, and may communicate the data to a further electronic device.

Abstract: A method for sealing a seam in a fabric provides for joining at least one piece of a stretchable, one-ply woven fabric to another fabric such as another stretchable one-ply woven fabric, and for sealing the seam with a strip of another piece of fabric with an adhesive laminated thereon. The stretchable one-ply woven fabric includes elastic and inelastic fibers. A seam is produced in which the fabric fibers adhere to the seam and do not pull back from the seam. Also provided is a method for forming a hem and sealing the hem with a strip of another piece of fabric, to produce a hem that is resistant to fiber slippage. The method is advantageously used to form denim and other garments from woven fabrics that include at least 65% natural fibers along with various elastomeric fibers.
