摘要: An accessibility service tool providing accessibility services on demand for converting between content types and program product therefore. Media input, e.g., audio or audio/video is provided to a transformation and augmentation unit that determines from the media content what type of conversion is required and what service is being requested. An auction manager negotiates with service providers and selects one or more service provider for converting the input content into accessible content that is provided instead of or with the original content. Content conversion may be automatic or manual. Manual conversion may be used in background training for automatic conversion.

摘要: A system and method is provided for training a speaker-dependent Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system to a desired level of accuracy. In one aspect of the system and method, a user requests an ASR Training Center to train his or her ASR system within certain service parameters. During training, a certain level of accuracy is maintained, even during the very first session, by having a stenographer transcribe the audio material. When the user uses his or her ASR system, the stenographic transcription, rather than the ASR system transcription, is output to the user until the ASR Training Center determines that the user's ASR system has achieved the desired level of accuracy. The stenographic transcription is also used by the ASR Training Center to train the user's ASR system in a manner appropriate to that system.

摘要: A vehicle control system and method for facilitating operation of a vehicle by a driver with a potentially debilitating condition. At least one sensor provides sensor data corresponding to at least one of a vehicle condition or a driver condition. A database includes potentially debilitating condition data and symptoms data corresponding thereto. A central processing unit is in data communication with the database and the at least one sensor. The central processing monitors the operation of the vehicle by the driver based on the sensor data and the database.

摘要: A situation controller for a vehicle. The situation controller includes a processing device and an image monitor coupled to the processing device, for monitoring images associated with one or more items within the vehicle. The situation controller also includes a device for communicating a message relating to the one or more monitored items wherein the content of the message is determined by the processing device based at least in part on the one or more monitored items. Additionally, a controller coupled to the processing device, for controlling at least one function of the vehicle in response to the one or more monitored items within the vehicle, is included.

摘要: A system and method is provided for real time teleconferencing, where one of the participants is deaf or hearing-impaired. In one aspect of the system and method, each participant has an Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system and a chat service system, such as AOL Instant Messenger™. Each participant may have a different type of ASR system, as well as a different type of chat service system. It is not necessary that the deaf or hearing-impaired participant have an ASR system. For each participant, the participant's ASR system transcribes the speech of the participant and provides it to the participant's chat service system, which translates the transcribed text into the chat service message in the format of the participant's chat service system. An Integration Server receives all the participant's chat messages, which have various formats, and translates them into the format used by the chat service system of the deaf or hearing-impaired participant, thus allowing her to see the transcribed text of the conversation between the other participants. In addition, the deaf or hearing-impaired participant inputs text to her chat service system, which creates a formatted message text. The Integration Server receives this formatted chat message and translates it into the formats of the remaining participant's chat service systems, so that the remaining participants see the comments of the deaf or hearing-impaired participant. In other aspects, the teleconferencing system and method is used to connect disparate chat service systems, without necessarily including a deaf or hearing-impaired participant.

摘要: Techniques are disclosed for facilitating coordination of user activities in accordance with information processing systems and, more particularly, to techniques for managing encounters with persons using such information processing systems. For example, a method for facilitating user coordination of one or more activities comprises the following steps. User personal preference input for managing an encounter with at least one other person is accepted. Input of at least one user schedule entry is received. Schedule entries of the at least one other person are evaluated and it is automatically determined whether there is an overlap between the at least one user schedule entry and the schedule entries of the at least one other person. A response to a determined overlap is automatically determined. The user personal preference input may comprise an indication of whether the user wishes to avoid an encounter with the at least one other person or coordinate an encounter with the at least one other person.
