The influences of the vibrations and the like of a rotational radiography system are corrected with respect to a projection image for each projection direction which contains an artificial artifact, and volume data containing only a ring artifact is generated by image reconstruction using the projection images. A ring center is determined by using this volume data, and polar coordinate conversion of an actual radiographed image is executed by using the ring center as an origin, thereby extracting a signal (ring artifact) parallel to an angular axis.

Scattered radiation is estimated by using a reduced image generated from a projection image, and the scattered radiation image of the projection image is acquired by enlargement processing. The scattered radiation correction of the projection image is executed by subtracting the obtained scattered radiation image from the projection image. In addition, when a primary X-ray image and a scattered radiation image in each projection direction are to be obtained by sequential approximation calculation, a primary X-ray image which has already been identified in an adjacent projection direction is used as a first estimated value (initially set value) in next sequential calculation.

In an X-ray imaging apparatus according to an embodiment, a three-dimensional blood-vessel image collecting unit collects a three-dimensional blood vessel image. An X-ray image collecting unit collects an X-ray image. A composite-image creating unit then creates a three-dimensional projection image projected based on a state of the X-ray imaging apparatus from the collected three-dimensional blood vessel image, and creates a composite image of the created three-dimensional projection image and the X-ray image. A displacement determining unit then determines a displacement between an aneurysm on the three-dimensional projection image and the aneurysm on the X-ray image. Subsequently, a registration unit registers the composite image by using the determined displacement, and displays the registered composite image onto a display unit.
