    摘要: A developing method for an electrostatic latent image comprises the steps of applying and retaining a layer of developer on a supporting sleeve, conveying the developer on the supporting sleeve to a development area, and regulating the quantity of the developer on the supporting sleeve by a developer regulating device before the developer is conveyed to the development area. The regulating step includes impressing a bias voltage so as to establish a field between the supporting sleeve and the regulating device in order to selectively retain developer on the supporting sleeve which has a desired polarity and quantity of charge for development. The developer regulating device may be a sleeve rotated in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the supporting sleeve, and has a bias voltage impressed thereon.

    摘要: A developing apparatus comprising a developing agent conveyor for conveying a developing agent, said developing agent conveyor including a multiplicity of pairs of electrodes each composed of a first electrode and a second electrode faced to said first electrode through a charging space so that an alternating electric field is generated in said charging space by the coactions of said first and second electrodes. A developing method characterized: in that a developing agent is introduced into a developing agent cloud forming space, in which an alternating electric field is to be generated, so that said developing agent may be made to fly therein by the action of said alternating electric field thereby to form the cloud of said developing agent; and in that the cloud of said developing agent is guided to a developing region thereby to develop a latent image, and by a developing apparatus comprising: an endless developing agent conveyor adapted to move in a manner to face a moving latent image retainer; a developing agent supply mechanism for supplying a developing agent to said endless developing agent conveyor; and an alternating electric field generating mechanism for establishing an alternating electric field in that developing agent cloud forming space of said endless developing agent conveyor, which is located in a region close to said latent image retainer.

    摘要: A two-cycle electrophotographic copying apparatus includes a rotatable charge retaining member, a charging device, an exposure mechanism, a developing device and a transferring device sequentially arranged around the charge retaining member in the direction of its rotation. During a first rotation of the charge retaining member, a toner image of an original is formed, and during the second rotation of the charge retaining member, the remaining toner is cleaned from the charge retaining member to prepare it for its next succeeding copying operation. The developing device comprises a first sleeve-like member for developing an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the charge retaining member during the first revolution thereof, and a second sleeve-like member for cleaning remaining toner from the surface of the charge retaining member during the second rotation of the charge retaining member and for suppying the removed developer to the first sleeve-like member during the first rotation of the charge retaining member. The second sleeve-like member is movable between first and second positions which correspond respectively to the first and second rotations of the charge retaining member.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for cleaning toner from the surface of an electrostatic image holder wherein a film member comprising superposed insulating and conductive layers is positioned close to an electrostatic image holder so that the insulating layer of the film member faces the image holder. At least one of a d.c. voltage and an a.c. voltage is applied between the electrostatic image holder and the film member, the toner from the surface of the electrostatic image holder being removed and transferred onto the surface of the insulating layer of the film member. The toner from the surface of the insulating layer of the film member may be removed by a removing means. Also, an electrostatic charge eliminator is provided for eliminating the electrostatic charge from the surface of the insulating layer after removal of the toner therefrom.
