    摘要: In accordance with the invention, there are systems and methods to impart an electrostatic charge to particles. An exemplary method can include providing a plurality of particles to be charged and providing a plurality of nanostructures disposed over a first electrode array, the first electrode array including a plurality of electrodes spaced apart. The method can also include providing a multi-phase voltage source operatively coupled to the first electrode array and applying a multi-phase voltage to the first electrode array to create a traveling electric field between each electrode of the first electrode array, thereby causing electron emission from the plurality of nanostructures and forming a plurality of charged particles. The method can further include transporting each of the plurality of charged particles using the traveling electric field onto a surface.

    摘要: A developing method for an electrostatic latent image comprises the steps of applying and retaining a layer of developer on a supporting sleeve, conveying the developer on the supporting sleeve to a development area, and regulating the quantity of the developer on the supporting sleeve by a developer regulating device before the developer is conveyed to the development area. The regulating step includes impressing a bias voltage so as to establish a field between the supporting sleeve and the regulating device in order to selectively retain developer on the supporting sleeve which has a desired polarity and quantity of charge for development. The developer regulating device may be a sleeve rotated in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the supporting sleeve, and has a bias voltage impressed thereon.

    摘要: A developing apparatus according to the present invention is opposed to a photosensitive layer of a photosensitive drum, and supplies the photosensitive layer with a nonmagnetic insulating toner of one component type charged for a predetermined polarity, to develop an electrostatic latent image formed on the photosensitive layer. The developing apparatus is provided with a developing roll which comprises a rotatably cylindrical roll body formed of a dielectric material and hundreds or thousands of linear microelectrodes attached to that surface of the roll body which faces the photosensitive layer, each of the microelectrodes being apart from the adjacent ones and having a surface which faces the photosensitive layer and is exposed, and an electrical power source for impressing at least one pair of adjacent microelectrodes among the plurality of the microelectrodes with a voltage to generate an electric field with a magnitude high enough to fly the toner on one of the pair of electrodes therefrom.

    摘要: A development apparatus for developing a latent electrostatic image formed on a photoconductor with a one-component type developer has a charging device comprising at least two charging members for charging the developer held in a developer container. The first charging member serves both as a doctor blade and for regulating the amount of the developer on the development roller, and the second charging member charges the developer before it is charged by the first charging member. In the second charging member, there is formed a hole for allowing the developer to pass therethrough. The developer scraped by the first charging member is returned to the developer container through the hole and part of the scraped developer is carried back to the first charging member, so that a developer circulation path is formed in the charging device. While passing through the developer circulation path, the developer is charged further, whereby the developer is sufficiently charged before it is actually used for development.

    摘要: Image developing methods are provided in accordance with teachings of the present invention. According to one embodiment of this invention, a surface traverses a uniformly varying electric field whereby electrophotographic developer particles adhering to said surface are removed therefrom in accordance with a first portion of said electric field and further electrophotographic developer particles are uniformly deposited on said surface in accordance with a second portion of said electric field. Said surface may comprise a donor member for selectively transferring the uniformly deposited electrophotographic developer particles to an electrostatic latent image. In another embodiment of the present invention said surface may comprise a photoconductive plate whereby the electrophotographic developer particles are selectively deposited on said photoconductive plate in conformity with the distribution of electrostatic charges thereon. The uniformly varying electric field is produced by variably biassed electrode means.
