The control device has a sensor which detects an input rotation speed to the torque converter, a sensor which detects an output rotation speed from the torque converter, a differential pressure control device which controls the differential pressure applied to the lock-up clutch, and a controller which sets a target slip rotation speed of the torque converter; calculates a real slip rotation speed which is a difference between the detected input rotation speed and the detected output rotation speed; and performs feedback control to determine the differential pressure applied to the lock-up clutch so that the real slip rotation speed coincides with the target slip rotation speed. The controller is programmed to: set the target slip rotation speed to a first target slip rotation speed determined from a vehicle running parameter; perform feedback control so that the real slip rotation speed coincides with the first target slip rotation speed; change over the first target slip rotation speed to a second target slip rotation speed according to an error between the first target slip rotation speed and the real slip rotation speed; after changing over, and perform feedback control so that the real slip rotation speed coincides with the second target slip rotation speed; wherein the first and second target slip rotation speeds are different functions of time.

An object of the present invention is to provide a battery state estimation device and a battery state estimation method which identify parameter of a secondary battery with high accuracy. A current and a terminal voltage of secondary battery are detected, then by using the current measured value and terminal voltage measured value thus detected, the terminal voltage of secondary battery based on predetermined battery model is estimated, and the parameter of the secondary battery is identified such that a difference between terminal voltage measured value and voltage estimated value is converged to zero. In the identifying of parameter of secondary battery, the terminal voltage measured value and terminal voltage estimated value are subjected to filter treatment by low pass filter having a common high frequency breaking characteristic and the terminal voltage measured value and terminal voltage estimated value subjected to the filter treatment are used.

In an image scanner, a controller is responsive to a start command for line-scanning a document to produce a line-scan signal and providing a display of the line-scan signal on a viewing screen. While this sequence proceeds from a start position towards the end of a full scan, the user is allowed to reposition the document by viewing the screen if its orientation needs correction. The process continues until a stop command is produced or until the line-scan reaches the end of the full scan area, whichever is earlier. In response to the stop command, the controller restarts the line-scanning and display sequence from the start position to provide a full-scan of the material.

A tightening force of a lockup clutch (2) exerted between a pump impeller (1a) connected to an engine (21) and a turbine runner (1b) connected to an automatic transmission (23) is controlled by a controller (5). The controller (5) determines a target relative rotation speed of the pump impeller (1a) and the turbine runner (1b), and performs feedback control of the tightening force such that the difference between the target relative rotation speed and the real relative rotation speed is decreased. The controller (5) also performs feedforward control of the tightening force. When the variation of the relative rotation speed due to the feedforward control has exceeded the predetermined value, the controller (5) corrects the feedback control amount to moderate the effect of the variation, thereby suppressing sudden change in the tightening force.
