The downhole tool may also include a linear actuator coupled to the first portion and to a second portion of the downhole tool, where the linear actuator is configured to move the second portion relative to the first portion and the feature. The downhole tool may further include a cutting head coupled to the second portion and including one or more cutters configured to engage with the feature. The downhole tool may also include a control system configured to obtain remote commands to control the anchor, the linear actuator, the cutting head, or a combination thereof.

A cutting device can include a first arm having a cutting blade, wherein the cutting blade has side cutting teeth and an axis of rotation that is substantially at a right angle with respect to an axis of the tool body. The cutting device can also include a second arm with a bumper. The first and second arms articulate away from the elongate body in different directions to reduce vibrations while cutting. A control device can automate the cut based on hydraulic pressure measurements. Additionally, the cutting device can also be extended or rotated on a rotary index. The cutting device can rotate around a J slot, in an example.

摘要: A service tool that may be inserted into a tubular, the service tool includes an anchoring system. The anchoring system includes a body having a first end, a second end, and an opening extending along a portion of the body between the first end and the second end and a gripping assembly housed within and coupled to the body. The gripping assembly may anchor at least a portion of the service tool to the tubular, and the gripping assembly includes a plurality of anchor arms disposed within the opening and that may move relative to the body. The anchoring system also includes an actuator disposed within a central bore of the body and coupled to the gripping assembly. The actuator may apply a first axial input force in a first direction and a second axial input force in a second direction opposite the first direction to the gripping assembly, At least a portion of the gripping assembly translocates relative to the body in the first direction in response to the first axial input force to position the plurality of anchor arms in a radially expanded anchoring configuration, and the portion of the gripping assembly translocates relative to the body in the second direction in response to the second axial input force to position the plurality of anchor arms in a radially contracted configuration.
