Abstract: A system includes a downhole tool having multiple electric leads. The system also includes a release device that includes an outer shell configured to mechanically couple to the downhole tool, and the outer shell is configured to form a cavity that is fluidly separate from wellbore fluids contained within a wellbore while the outer shell is mechanically coupled to the downhole tool. The release device also includes a contact block configured to electrically couple to the multiple electric leads. In addition, the contact block is configured to electrically decouple from the multiple electric leads while the outer shell remains mechanically coupled to the downhole tool. Further, the contact block is configured to remain in the cavity after electrically decoupling from the plurality of electric leads.

Abstract: A multi-disciplinary optimization (MDO) framework and workflow facilitates analysis and optimization of set of designs of a pressure-controlling component. The MDO workflow generally enables design workflow integration and automation, which can improve engineering efficiency, and enables automated optimization within the workflow automation, which facilitates performance and reliability improvement for product development. The MDO workflow enables the integration of computer-aided design (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA), digital manufacturing simulation (DMS), and optimization packages to facilitate testing and optimization of a set of pressure-controlling component designs. As such, the MDO framework and workflow improve the efficiency of the design process by providing a scalable solution for automating aspects of the design process for a set of designs of a pressure-controlling component, which may represent a product family or a set of competing alternative designs.

The method also includes enabling, via the battery controller, the battery system to provide power to a release device in a wellbore upon receiving the timer value. Moreover, the method includes receiving, via the battery controller, an updated timer value, and the updated timer value changes the timer value, and the battery system continues to provide power to the release device at least until the updated timer value expires.
