摘要： A sensor mount assembly including a housing, fastener and a lever mechanism. The housing contains a sensor having two electrical leads and includes an integral flange adapted to receive a fastener. The fastener includes a body and a head. The body is received in the flange to secure the housing to a mount. The lever mechanism is proximate the flange and includes a contact block and a conductor. The contact block is acted upon by the fastener head to move the lever mechanism and, hence the conductor, between a first position and a second position. The first position corresponds to an unmounted sensor and creates a short circuit condition between the two electrical leads. The second position corresponds to a properly mounted sensor and creates an open circuit between the two electrical leads such that the electrical circuit path of the overall system includes the sensor within the housing.

摘要： A method and apparatus for detecting an improperly installed auxiliary child seat of the type that is secured in a motor vehicle by the seatbelt, and providing an alert to a vehicle operator in the case of improper installation. A seat occupancy sensor, a seatbelt buckle condition sensor, and a seatbelt tension sensor provides electrical signals to a child seat detection module, which determines that an improper installation condition exists if the auxiliary child seat is present and the seatbelt buckle is unfastened. The child seat detection module further determines an improper installation condition if the auxiliary child seat is present, the seatbelt buckle is fastened, and the seatbelt tautness is not within an acceptable range. If an improper installation condition is detected, the child seat detection module triggers an alerting device, such as a warning light on the instrument panel or audible chime. The seat occupancy sensor may a bladder-type weight sensor, or a pressure pattern sensor that is able to detect a child seat based on the weight distribution over the area of the seat. The child seat detection module includes a memory unit containing information for all auxiliary child seats that are compatible with the vehicle. A user interface allows the vehicle operator to input the type of seat installed in the vehicle, the weight of the child to be carried, and other pertinent information if necessary, and the child seat detection module calculates the range of acceptable tension values or looks up the correct values in a saved table.

摘要： A method of adjusting air bag deployment in a vehicle having a seat adjustable along a seat track and an adjustable pedal includes sensing the adjusted position of the seat along the seat track and sensing the adjusted position of the adjustable pedal. Air bag deployment is then adjusted based upon the sensed positions of the seat and pedal. Preferably, the air bag is deployable at low output and high output, and the adjusting step includes sending a signal operative to enable or disable the high output of air bag deployment.
