    摘要: A light source apparatus includes light-emitting blocks, a local dimming control part and a light source driving part driving. The light-emitting blocks include a first-color light source which emits first-color light and a second-color light source which emits second-color light. The second-color light source includes a third-color chip and a fourth-color phosphor disposed on the third-color chip, and is disposed as one package to emit the second-color light therefrom. The local dimming control part compensates a driving current of the first-color light source and a driving current of the second-color light source of each of the light-emitting blocks. The light source driving part drives the first-color light source and the second-color light sources based on the driving current of the first-color light source and the a driving current of the second-color light source, respectively, each compensated by the local dimming control part.

    摘要: A backlighting assembly for an LCD display is divided into a plurality of selective dimming areas each having a respective plurality of light generating blocks. A plurality of driving units supply power to the light generating blocks. The light generating blocks are grouped into light source groups. Each of the driving units supplies power to at least one light generating block in a first light source group and a second light generating block in a second light source group but not to all the light generating blocks in any one light source group. Light generating blocks connected to a same driving unit may be distributedly arranged to be nonadjacent to one another. Plural driving units are used to fully power a brightly lit one dimming area, thereby reducing the loads on the individual driving units and preventing overheating.

    摘要: In accordance with one or more embodiments of the present invention, a light source module includes a light source, a frame plate, and an insulation structure. The frame plate includes a plurality of light source pad portions, a power wiring portion, and a peripheral portion. The power wiring portion is electrically connected to the light source to be formed in the vicinity of the light source pad portion. A boundary area of the power wiring portion corresponding to the peripheral portion and the light source pad portion is formed to be open, so that the power wiring portion is spaced apart from the peripheral portion and the light source pad portion. The insulation structure is formed in the boundary area to electrically insulate the power wiring portion from the frame plate. In one aspect, the volume, weight, and manufacturing costs of the light source module may be reduced, and a process of individually packaging light sources may be considered unnecessary.

    摘要: Controller unit includes local dimming logic board and controller board. Local dimming logic board generates local dimming signals in response to image data received from external device. When boost-worthy portion of image data is found to satisfy predefined boosting conditions, local dimming logic board increases luminance value of backlight dimming signal supplied for corresponding boost-worthy area portion of image data. Controller board receives image data from local dimming logic board, and gamma converts peripheral area data corresponding to peripheral area of image data into converted image data using compensating gamma conversion different than that used for image data of backlight boosted area so that luminance of peripheral area adjacent to boosting area is decreased by use of compensating gamma conversion in place of normal or reference gamma conversion. Decreased luminance substantially counter compensates for increased luminance due to light from spreading into peripheral area from adjacent boosted area.
