    摘要: Provided is an optical waveguide device including: a core having a stacked structure of at least three layers in which first thin films having a finite width and thickness and formed of a material having a relatively high electric conductivity and a second thin film having the same width as the first thin films and formed of a material having a lower conductivity than the material forming the first thin films are stacked in sequence, the first thin films being disposed in a first layer and an uppermost layer and adjacent to each other for interaction of surface plasmons; and a clad disposed around the core and formed of a material having a lower conductivity than the material forming the first thin films and a higher refractive index than the material forming the second thin film. The thin metal films of at least two layers having a high electric conductivity in the optical waveguide device can generate a combined surface plasmon mode and propagate the generated surface plasmon mode in the length direction of the thin metal films. Thus, a propagated signal suffers from a smaller propagation loss than a surface plasmon mode supported by a single thin film.

    摘要: A polyamic ester (PAE) film, which shows an electro-optic (EO) and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties without a poling process, is prepared. The chromophore in the film seems to be slightly oriented normally to the film surface (transverse magnetic field (TM) direction even though the polymer solution is spin-coated. This is due to the nano-configuration structure of PAE controlled by introducing a designed chemical structure into the monomeric repeating unit of PAE. Manufacturing the relating devices can be simplified by using the self-poled polymer film as a polymer waveguide. Additionally, the EO property of the film is thermodynamically stable.

    摘要: A host-guest polymer system including a polymer with an isoimide group and an organic chromophore and capable of converting into a side-chain polymer system, a side-chain nonlinear optical polymer derived from the host-guest polymer system, and a method for synthesizing the side-chain nonlinear optical polymer are provided. The method for synthesizing the side-chain nonlinear optical polymer involves forming a nonlinear optical polymer film based on a host-guest system in which an organic chromophore having a reactive group capable of nucleophilic reaction with an isoimide group is dispersed in a matrix including a polymer with the isoimide group having the following formula: Next, the nonlinear optical film is poled at a first temperature in an electric field; and the organic chromophore is reacted with the polymer while poling at a second temperature which is higher than the first temperature, to synthesize the side-chain nonlinear optical polymer.
