摘要： An information recording and reproducing device has a first recording clock generation circuit which generates a clock based on pre-recorded information on a magneto-optical disk, a second recording clock generation circuit and a switching circuit The switching circuit selects a first recording clock when recording information is of discrete information and selects a second recording clock when recording information is of successive information. Moreover, in the present device, a first reading clock is used as well as a second clock as a clock for reading out the reproduced data from the magneto-optical disk, which had been once stored in memory. The second reading clock having a reference frequency is generated by a second clock generation circuit and is used for reading out successive information such as music information. The first reading clock in synchronization with the reproduced signal is generated by a first reading clock generation circuit and is used for reading out discrete information such as computer-use data. In addition, in the case of discrete information, it is possible to start recording/reproducing operation immediately after an optical head reaches a desired position, thereby permitting to shorten an access time.

摘要： An information reproducing apparatus has (1) a reference signal generating circuit for generating a first reference signal corresponding to reproduced signal of the main information; (2) a first switching circuit for selecting one of the reproduced signal and the first reference signal; and (3) a controller, which generates a selection instructing signal, for controlling such that the reproduced signal is selected during reproducing of the main information recorded area while the first reference signal is selected during reproducing of the main information unrecorded area. With the arrangement, when the main information unrecorded area is reproduced, the clock for carrying out the reproducing of main information is synchronized with the first reference signal which corresponds to the reproduced signal. So, when the reproducing area is changed from the main information unrecorded area to the main information recorded area, the synchronizing with the reproduced signal is carried out in a short time, thereby improving the reliability of the reproducing process.

With this arrangement, signal evaluation devices for evaluating a recording medium or a recording medium driving device can have a simpler structure and can perform evaluations in a plurality of PR modes.

摘要： An analog signal switching device for use in an optical memory device having a recording/erasing mode and a mode other than the recording/erasing mode is disclosed. The switching device includes a source for producing a switch control signal which is HIGH during the recording/erasing mode and LOW during the mode other than the recording/erasing mode. An analog switch is provided for receiving a direct input analog signal and a held input signal and for providing as output the direct input signal during the LOW state of the switch control signal, and the held input signal during the HIGH state of the switch control signal by a switching operation. Further provided is a mask signal generator for generating a mask signal which covers a period during the HIGH state of the switch control signal so as to cover a period during the switching operation of the analog switch, and a gate circuit controlled by the mask signal for allowing the direct input analog signal to pass therethrough during the absence of the mask signal and for preventing the held input signal to pass therethrough during the presence of the mask signal. Thus, noise signals produced by the switching operation of the analog switch are eliminated.

摘要： An automatic gain control device for use in an optical memory device has a circuit for producing an amplification control signal which is fed back to a gain control amplifier through a sample-hold circuit. A pulse train detection circuit is provided for detecting the pulse train indicating that the data stored are a on the optical memory device is being playedback. When the pulse train is detected, the sample-hold circuit is made inactive so that the amplification control signal is directly fed back to the gain control amplifier, and when the pulse train ends, the sample-hold circuit is made active to hold the amplification control signal obtained at the end of the pulse train and to produce the amplification control signal held in the sample-hold circuit.

摘要： An information recording and reproducing device uses a recording medium which is provided with units composed of blocks and a unit information recording area which includes unit allocation information, sector number information indicating the number of sectors per unit and unit number information identifying each unit. When the recording medium is placed in the device, the respective information is read by a calculating unit which calculates physical sector numbers corresponding to a block specified for recording and reproduction operations. Access operations are performed to the calculated sectors, which allows the desired information to be recorded. The block includes dummy sectors which are added before and after each group of predetermined numbers of effective sectors. When high-volume information is recorded over several blocks, the dummy sectors may be provided only for the first and last blocks. The device records a group of information whose volume varies from the smallest block number toward the larger block numbers, while it records a group of information whose volume is fixed from the largest block number. Thus, the recording area is effectively used. The device easily conducts the information management when a host device specifies a block. The file management may be executed by providing a unit for recording file management information separately from a unit for recording files.

The recorded region detecting circuit comprises a pair of peak hold circuits for detecting a peak levels of the playback signals and first and second selecting circuits for selecting one of the reproduced signals and for selecting one of two reference voltages with different voltage levels, respectively smoothing the playback signal, and a comparator for comparing the outputs of the first and second selecting circuits.

摘要： A recording/reproducing device performs the recording/reproduction on a recording medium having an information recording area and a table of contents area. The recording medium is provided with guiding grooves that snake in cycles corresponding to values of absolute addresses. The device divides the information recording area into a plurality of domains. Each domain corresponds to a single sampling frequency with respect to the information being recorded. An electromagnet and an optical head record information in the domain that corresponds to its sampling frequency and records additional information concerning the division in the table of contents. A spindle motor drives the disk which is adjusted such that the velocity of the disk is changed for each domain during recording and reproduction. A demodulator obtains the absolute addresses through demodulation by comparing frequencies determined from the snaking cycles of the guiding grooves with a reference frequency. An operational circuit converts the demodulated absolute addresses in accordance with the velocity of the disk into corrected absolute addresses that represented the period of time which has elapsed since the starting time. As a result, the burden imposed on the spindle motor is relieved, the demodulation of the absolute addresses may be executed accurately even when the rotational speed of the disk varies, and the time elapsed since the start of the recording/reproduction may be determined.
