    摘要: In a reference clock signal generator for generating a sampled servo format reference clock signal using a PLL circuit, an unique distance is detected by an output signal of a VCO in a state the PLL circuit is operated based on a clock signal which corresponds to a number of rotations of a disk in generating the reference clock signal. When the unique distance is detected, a dividing ratio of a frequency divider is changed to operate the PLL circuit based on a clock mark detecting signal. The dividing ratio is set so that an oscillation frequency of the VCO becomes constant before and after switching from the clock signal that corresponds to the number of rotations of the disk to the clock mark signal. A count of the frequency divider is preset to zero with the first clock mark signal after the detection of the unique distance and the detection of the clock marks thereafter is carried out based on the count of the frequency divider.

    摘要: A track retrieving method for making a light beam shift to a target track is provided in an apparatus in which at least one of a writing operation and a reading operation of information is performed to an information medium. A tracking control is applied to the information medium so as to make the light beam position on track. The information medium has tracks such that the polarity of the tracking control is alternately inverted between tracks. The method includes the steps of: making the light beam shift toward the target track, after the tracking control is made non-operational; and detecting a tracking error between the light beam and the track. The method also includes: generating a tracking error signal corresponding to the tracking error; generating a track middle-point signal for detecting a middle-point between adjacent tracks of the information medium based on a change of a polarity of a differentiation signal obtained by differentiating the tracking error signal; and generating a deceleration pulse for decelerating a shift of the light beam according to the track middle-point signal. The method also includes the steps of inverting the polarity of the tracking control before the deceleration pulse is completed, and again operating the tracking control, after the deceleration pulse is completed, to make the light beam position on the target track.

Detection of the jump middle-point for a two-track jump includes detecting a zero crossing in a tracking error signal. Detection of the jump middle-point for a one-track jump includes detecting a zero-crossing in a differential signal generated according to the tracking error signal. A target track several tracks away may be reached using consecutive two-track jumps, and if necessary, a single one-track jump.

The apparatus includes a control mechanism for maintaining the focusing state of the light beam on the recording medium by moving a focus mechanism based on a comparison between an output signal indicative of the focusing state and a target value. The apparatus further includes a target value setting circuit for setting the target value at a first level when the light beam is irradiated on the land track portions of the recording medium; and for setting the target value at a second level when the light beam is irradiated on the groove track portions.
