Disclosed is a method for resuming header decompression by receiving multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) packet data having compressed headers in a mobile communication system providing the MBMS. The method includes the steps of detecting a moving of user equipment (UE) receiving the MBMS into a new cell from an old cell, copying and storing old header decompression context information used in the old cell, initializing a dynamic part to decompress headers of packet data for the MBMS and waiting for an IR-DYN packet until the IR-DYN packet has been received in the UE, in order to update the old header decompression information, creating a new header decompression context through updating the old header decompression information by using the IR-DYN packet when the IR-DYN packet has been received in the UE, and decompressing the headers of the packet data for the MBMS transmitted from the new cell by using the new header decompression context.

The method includes receiving from a transmission entity performing ARQ, by a reception entity, a status report message including a Non-Acknowledged (NACK) signal for the packet data transmitted to the reception entity, and generating time information of the NACK signal; comparing, by the transmission entity, the generation time information with transmission complete time information for the packet data; and determining whether to retransmit the packet data depending on the comparison result, and performing retransmission of the packet data according to the determination step.

A user equipment transmits an uplink signal for requesting communications on the shared channel to a Node B, and waits for a delay duration without monitoring a downlink after transmitting the uplink signal. When the delay duration has elapsed, the user equipment monitors the downlink during a valid period and determines whether a downlink signal responding to the uplink signal is received in a transmission time interval within the valid period. When the downlink signal is received in the valid period, the user equipment transmits and receives data on the shared channel.

A method for selecting a cell by a user equipment (UE) to receive a Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) service in a mobile communication system which supports the MBMS service with different frequency allocations (FAs) in the same area. In the method, a radio network controller (RNC) transmits information on an MBMS cell to the UE, and the MBMS cell information includes an MBMS offset for guaranteeing priority for cell reselection to the MBMS cell. The UE performs cell reselection using the MBMS cell information and receives the MBMS service from the reselected cell.
